Light winds (0-11 knots) / Currents <0.5 knots) / Sea state calm to light chop
Moderate winds (12-19 knots) / Currents < 3 knots / Combined sea state <1m with moderate sea state / Surf <1m

I am familiar with Coast Guard requirements around gear and safety.

I know how to obtain and interpret a weather report and make good decisions about when and when not to travel.
I understand the cause and effects of currents and winds, on sea conditions.
I can use a chart to interpret aids to navigation and determine potential hazards.
