2016 Fall Chicken Sign up | $5/lb | Oct. 8th
Hello real chicken lovers!
Thanks for your interest in pasture raised chicken from our farm. We have our 3rd batch of chickens on pasture and are looking at a butcher date of Oct 8th. We legally can not hold them after they have been processed so you must pick up that night. We will let you know as soon as we schedule that date.

Our chickens are Red Rangers (AKA: freedom rangers), fed certified organic feed and raised in a pen on pasture. The pen is moved every day so the chickens have ample goodies to eat and our fields can benefit from their manure. They are sizing up well and are healthy and active.

We will be processing the birds this year ourselves which reflects in the lack of butcher fee. You will receive a fresh, whole bird, with yellowish skin (which is the real color of chicken skin) packaged in a plastic bag. They are ready to be cooked up that night or thrown in the freezer for future eating but if you want really tender meat, let them sit in your fridge for 3 days before enjoying or freezing.

Yes these birds are more expensive than 'natural' chicken at the grocery store because organic feed is $25 per 50lb bag and conventional is about $7-10, (also 'natural' is not a govt. regulated label and can be put on anything.) Red Rangers are also a natural foraging bird. They take 12 weeks to size up compared to 6 in commercial operations and because of that, they have even distribution of weight throughout their bodies, can walk and fly every day of their lives, and eat the things they are meant to like grass and bugs: this makes for a tasty bird that benefited from the environment it was raised in and was a benefit to it.

Below is the sign up form for chickens this year, we have 100 for sale.
Please indicate how many chickens you would like below. Chickens are $5/lb weighed and payed at pick up; $5/bird deposit required up front. You will receive a confirmation email from me with further details.
