Your first step is to educate yourself on the local sign code for your community/township. The process is quite simple and easy if you take the following steps:
1. Step One: Find out who is in charge of issuing permits for your area.
2. Step Two: Complete a rough drawing of the property, mark where your existing signage is located and measure the size of any signs currently on the property.
3. Step Three: This is a important step. Take the initial design local to your permit office and get a copy of the local sign code. They will then be able to tell you the size and type of signage you are able to install based on your local code.
4. Step Four: Once you have decided on a final sign model and design, take your sign design back to the permit office.
5. Step Five: secure your final permit.
