WE Canadore Student Leadership Program Application

Canadore College, Canadore Students’ Council and WE are excited to announce our second year of partnership offering a learning community focused on supporting leadership development both on campus and within the local and regional communities. The leadership program brings students together and empowers them to become better local and regional citizens.

We are currently seeking applications to participate in the WE Canadore Student Leadership Program from September 2018-April 2019. All registered Canadore College students as of September 2018 are eligible to apply.

Application Process – extended!

Please submit your online application by August 1, 2018. Applications may be submitted through this online form or by scanning and emailing your application to Laurie Purtell – laurie.purtell@canadorecollege.ca

Applicants will be shortlisted and selected students will be invited to an in person or Skype interview by August 17, 2018.

Successful applicants will receive a confirmation package, 8 full days of customized training from Me to WE facilitators and will work with their team to develop a specific action plan for the campus/community. They will also be entered into a draw to attend WE Day in Toronto and will be invited to attend WE Day in Ottawa.

  • Please choose 2 of the 6 questions and submit a photo essay, poetry, short story or written essay. If you choose to submit a written essay or short story it should be no longer than 250 words.

    1. What 3 characteristics do you feel make a good leader?

    2. Please describe a challenge that you faced recently, and how you successfully handled/overcame the challenge.

    3. Please identify a social justice issue that you care about, affecting either your local community or the global community, and describe why you are passionate about this issue.

    4. Please identify an individual or group that you believe has changed the world in a significant way and describe 3 key attributes that were critical to their success.

    5. Social media is increasingly being used as a platform to discuss social justice issues and raise awareness. What role, if any do you think social media plays in addressing social justice issues?

    6. What do you hope to gain from attending this Leadership Training Program?

    October Reading Week: (4 days) October 22, 23, 24, 25
    February Reading Week: (2 days) Feb 25, 26
