St. John’s Confirmation Program normally begins when a young person enters 9th grade. It consists of a two year preparation for confirmation and a two year post confirmation follow up. Its purpose is to enable young people to become mature, lifelong followers of Jesus and active members of the Episcopal Church.

Candidate Confirmation Covenant

I recognize the importance of this special time of preparation for Confirmation. I understand that this is a process of discernment in which I will:
• Seek a closer relationship with God and with my peers in the group.
• Develop lifelong patterns of worship, prayer and service.
• Develop a better understanding of the Episcopal Church
• Reach a personal decision as to whether or not I want to confirm my faith

In order to accomplish this, to the best of my ability and with God's help, I will:
 Develop the habit of weekly attendance at the Eucharist
 Attend services on Ash Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Holy Week, and The Great Vigil of Easter.
 Attend all Confirmation classes and activities
 Participate in at least one mission trip before Confirmation
 Participate in at least one local service project activity each year
 Participate in the Diocesan Confirmation overnight retreat

Parent Confirmation Covenant

As the parent(s),/guardian(s) I recognize the importance of this special time of preparation for Confirmation. I understand that this is a process of discernment in which my child will:
• Seek a closer relationship with God and with my peers in the group.
• Develop lifelong patterns of worship, prayer and service.
• Develop a better understanding of the Episcopal Church
• Reach a personal decision as to whether or not I want to confirm my faith

I intend to stand with my daughter/son throughout this graced time in her/his life. Therefore, to the best of my ability and with God's help I will:
• Support her/him in her/his faith journey in word and deed.
• Set an example of committed Christian discipleship and service.
• Attend church services with my family and facilitate my child's attendance at worship.
• Continue to pray for openness to the Holy Spirit in my life and in the life of my child
seeking confirmation.
• Ensure that my child attends all of the components of the confirmation process as well as post confirmation formation including:
