"I started working in the Business Process Outsourcing Industry way back in 2002. My first campaign was directory assistance, wherein we give number inquiry or transfer the call directly to the listing, after which was able to handle different lines of businesses for a number of campaigns coming from Telcos, Travel, Sales, and a lot more. It was a fun filled experience, learning lots of new knowledge, making friends, and enjoying work. One day, my manager approached me and said, "Joel, can you lower down the volume of your voice, your teammates are having a hard time hearing their customers." Yes, I had a loud voice. My manager asked me if I would want to work for the training department, and I gladly said yeah sure, I would love to try my luck, and so, I was promoted to become a soft skills trainer and eventually became the Training Manager of the largest phone and TV service in the US, Comcast.
It was all good until one rainy day in the year 2016, while I was driving after a fifteen hour shift, my car crashed and there I lost my right vision. It was the greatest challenge of my life because I needed to resign from the company I was working for due to negligence of employee benefits. Apparently, for how many years have passed, I knew that my Company wasn't able to pay government contributions, and that led me to filing a case against them. As days and months passed by, I just got myand drunk everyday. Well I guess, who won't be, after spending so many years, working hard and aspiring to get the position you have always dreamed of, in one snap, everything was gone.
One morning , while I was fixing my youngest son's crib, I noticed that the youtube channel on the laptop's screen is not working, meaning... yeah, I took the laptop and fixed the concern, eventually checked my email and other social media accounts, and learned about companies offering remote work from home., and that was the day I started looking for a job. My first job working at home was teaching English to Chinese and Japanese. It was fun but really tiring because you need to open long hours of the day so students can book my class. I was able to meet lots of people and became friends with, they even visited me here in the Philippines and that really rocks.
After several months of teaching ESL, I was asked by a close friend of mine if I can still do outbound calls, I said yeah, of course, and with that game changer, I was able to learn new things, new campaigns, new processes. I was able to get myself promoted to a sales manager as well, and was trained for admin tasks, lead generation, calendar management, social media management, crm management, and a lot more."
