You and your gifts are important as we seek to share the Good News of God’s love and grace within our church, our communities, and our world. So, how can you share the gifts that God has given you? Note: several of these have training available
Childcare Ministry
Childcare (general) - care for children for other activities at church (Anual Meeting, Parent's Day Out, etc.)
Nursery staff - Care for children age infant - 3 yrs in Nursery while parents in worship - Sun 10am rotating schedule
Church Office Ministry
Phone calls - contact members to inform them of events at LOL (as needed)
Receptionist - answer phone calls while staff is meeting (2 Mondays / month 9am-noon, rotating schedule)
Congregational Care Ministry
Eucharistic Minister - taking communion to those unable to attend services
Prayer Ministry - send cards/notes/emails, make phone calls
Provide transportation (for adults/youth) – when needed
Education Ministry
Adult Education – lead Bible Study for adults in congregation (weekly opportunity)
Confirmation Coaches – teach Confirmation students during 10 am service (1 hour per service, 12 classes October, January & March) prep time required
Sunday School - teach youth during services (20 minutes per service, one class during summer June – August) prep time required
Vacation Bible School – join the fun for this week long experience (usually scheduled for last week of July)
Fellowship Ministry
Baking – bake items as needed for dinners, receptions, coffee hour (as needed, rotating schedule)
Coffee hour -Set up coffee between services (rotating schedule)
Cook meals – cook meals as needed for members and friends in need (as needed, rotating schedule)
Kitchen Coordinator- organize volunteers to provide food, set up and clean up for church events (one year term/team of two)
Kitchen Keeper – organize kitchen and pantry area on an as needed basis
Men’s Ministry Support – help with monthly events
Women’s Ministry Support - help with monthly events
Financial Ministry
Audit Team- examine church’s “books” (4-6 hours once per year effort)
Endowment Committee – promote and nurture the LOL Mission Endowment Fund
Teller – process member offering envelopes and count monies received (rotating teams, once a month)
Music Ministry
Bell Choir – participate in choir during the season including practices (once per week) also support hymn singing and special trips to Lutheran Care
New Life Choir – sing in adult mixed choir, usually leading 8:30 am service. Practice every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 pm except summer
Praise Team – Everyone welcome, leading 10 am service. Practice Sunday 9 am.
Special Music – share your vocal or instrumental gifts for service of your choice and/or special holiday services
Mutual Ministry
Mutual Ministry - liaison with congregation, council & staff, provide sounding board for Pastor
Property Ministry
Lawn mowing – once per week during the growing season (3 hours/2 people) adult supervision required
Maintain building (inside/outside) – help work down the ‘job jar’ tasks that accumulate (one Saturday morning per month)
Snow clearing – help remove snow (after snowstorm when necessary)
Social Ministry
Helping Hands – make sandwiches for clients of the Christian Caring Center (fourth Monday of the month at 1 pm)
Lutheran Care Visit – reach out and touch the lives of residents of the Lutheran Care (first Monday of the month at 1:30 pm at Lutheran Care)
Special Projects – work on specific projects such as Fair Trade/Alternative Gift Fair, Urban Promise, Lenten Project, etc
Stewardship Ministry
Church Electronic Outreach – support newsletter for church news & other areas (e.g. Facebook)
Green Team / Creation Care – support environmental stewardship within church facilities and teach best practices
Photography – support coverage of church events for photo library (as needed)
Skits – participate in development & presentation of creative messages to teach stewardship, occasionally during the year. (preparation & service presentation)
Video Production – support development of videos to chronicle church activities and present messages at services (as needed)
Volunteer Coordinator – support gathering of time/talent info and match up skills with church needs as a “clearinghouse” function (rotating task – monthly 2-3 hours)
Worship Ministry
Altar Care – setup communion and altar for services & cleanup (rotating schedule)
Worship Assistant – assist the Pastor in leading worship, primarily at the 8:30 am service (rotating schedule)
Audiovisual – support service of choice (projection & audio) – 20 minutes before service, 5 minutes after (rotating schedule)
Communion assistant – assist with communion during service (rotating schedule for service of choice)
Greeter – welcome members and visitors to our worship services (rotating schedule for service of choice)
Lector/Reader – come to the lectern at designated time during the service and read the prayer & lessons of the day (rotating schedule for service of choice)
Usher – welcome and seat worshipers, distribute bulletins, receive offering, assist with worship flow (rotating schedule for service of choice)
