"I have an extensive education and training in the legal field having studied Political Science which entailed substantial immersion in the study of the law; having served a couple of Philippine Senators as a member of their Legal and Legislative Staff gave me an edge over other contractors and I can, thus, be relied on to undertake legal research effectively.
I have been associated with a couple of US-based lawyers as a legal assistant for more than a couple of years handling routine legal administrative tasks, transcription, legal research, preparation of correspondences and pleadings, including marketing collateral and creation of legal content. My most important contribution to their practice is in case analysis and matter tracking. I have also acquired expertise in utilizing various CRM platforms such as PracticePanther, Lexicata, Clio and Needles for handling both leads- and client-management functions.
These tasks may seem a handful but I was able to make everything manageable by prioritizing tasks. On the other hand, the approach I use for big-ticket projects involves breaking it down into smaller tasks to make it more feasible.
Most people find the legal industry to be a very complex and specialized market. If I'm honest, I would acknowledge how difficult it is to research complicated legal issues and draft elaborate pleadings. However, any challenge pales into insignificance when I'm able to help sway the judge by properly framing an issue. Case in point is an appellate brief I helped draft swayed the justices of the First Circuit of Louisiana Court of Appeal to vacate the sentence against our client and remand the case to the trial court for declaratory judgment proceeding.
