    AM Breakout Sessions

    Choose one: Track A, B, C or D
  • This session will explore the continuum of public and private sector integration by examining different adaptable models, from loose and informal partnerships to full Emergency Support Function representation. Together we can find common ground and help you identify the best fit to bring businesses and governments together to benefit whole communities when they need it most.
  • Once all of the documents have been reviewed by the attorneys, signed by leadership, and the agreements are in place to “partner,” then what? Many public-private partnerships have difficulty achieving full sustainability. This session will provide a snapshot of P3 successes and failures and identify best practices for long term success.
  • This session will highlight three partnerships that address violent extremism. Experts from DHS, DOS, and Edventure will discuss the Three Cities Pilot program and the Peer-2-Peer competition to counter extremist propaganda and influence, and the Mall of America will highlight an in-depth approach to coordinate its 500+ stores to respond to an active shooter event & best practices for long term success.
  • Reputation. Intellectual property. National security. Business continuity. These are just a few reasons why everyone needs to take on an active role in their organization’s cybersecurity, from the C-Suite to the staff level. We have become accustomed to the Internet of Things in just a few short years. But what happens when everything is truly connected—from your car to your hospital records to your emergency operations center? And then there are emerging technologies like unmanned aircraft, as well as future technologies we haven’t dreamed of yet. As you invest in modernizing your systems and tools, how do you build in resilience against new cyber-based threats? This session discusses what we might expect in the coming three to five years, along with strategies for building resilience in an evolving threat environment.
  • PM Breakout Sessions

    Choose one: Track A, B, C or D
  • This session welcomes state and local governments, as well as private sector community leaders who want to work together to help their organizations and communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. The group will examine common processes and resources for building a BEOC, to which participants can provide feedback and input in creating a truly collaborative set of guidance. Join us to help build the framework of fundamental “must haves” for anyone looking to build or mature a BEOC.
  • Public-Private Partnerships, Private-Public Partnerships, PPPs, P3s, the Ps, P-Soup—we’ve heard them all, but how do you actually start a public-private partnership? This session will walk participants through tangible steps on how to build and sustain a P3, with a focus on identifying projects, partners, and funding sources.
  • What can we do within our respective communities to not only counter violent extremism but also workplace violence in general? This session will facilitate discussion, identify challenges, and develop broad action steps for building on the type of partnerships discussed in the morning session and during the keynote lunch. Potential facilitators include: Target Corp, social media company, UASI, Minneapolis OEM, local base/station commander, FBI, local law enforcement leader, etc.
  • Cyber-security is no longer a wholly digital problem. More and more, cyber attacks have the ability to create tangible consequences. Building off the first session in this track, this session will provide case studies to demonstrate how cyber attacks can impact the physical infrastructure that supports how we communicate, travel, power, finance and otherwise sustain everyday activities in work and life. This session will also include an overview of how one local cyber-security public-private partnership developed to address these threats and to help build the future cyber work force.
