"I was formerly a Marketing Assistant for a bank. At first, I was told that my functions were mainly administrative – maintenance and proper filing of documents, making and receiving calls and e-mails from clients and of course, being ready anytime to support my team. This also includes keeping track of the activities in our database. Willing to grow with the bank, I accepted those terms and started learning diligently how the whole system goes.
After some time, I was also handed some tasks that were a little more complex. I started accompanying our Loan Advisers when visiting their clients and I picked up a lot of things that I don’t normally learn on my desk. I familiarized myself with the products that the bank offers, including their features and the requirements needed to submit a full loan application. Because of this, my skills revamped, and it made me a more efficient team player.
Other work experiences I had were internships before graduation. I spent a few months working as a government intern at the Bureau of the Treasury doing administrative work and a summer job under the wing of a Certified Public Accountant. The most important things that I picked up from these experiences were the work attitudes I must possess in order to do my job well and be a good fit for a position. Being versatile and diligent in all tasks that you are given and to always try your best to understand where the other person is coming from – I learned that these two things are most essential when your line of work involves people. And also, in order to be more efficient, it is best to be organized and punctual."
