NAMI Basics Registration:
NAMI-Tallahassee is pleased to offering the NAMI Basics signature education program. All teachers are volunteer and the classes are subject to their schedules. We are currently accepting applications to attend the course.

NAMI Basics is a free, six-session, peer-directed education program developed specifically for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents who have either been diagnosed with a mental illness or who are experiencing symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed. A separate series of the six sessions is available to professional caregivers.

Once your application is received, you will be contacted to determine if the course is appropriate for your needs. When we have enough participants classes will be scheduled. Family caregiver classes will meet 6 consecutive weeks for 2 1/2 hours. Professional caregivers generally attend 3 full day sessions. At this time we do not have a professionals class scheduled.

Parents and other Caregivers Class:
Six consecutive classes
Saturdays, Sept. 16–Oct. 14, 9:30-11:30 am
Whole Child Leon, 1124 Lee Avenue (one block west of TMH), Tallahassee, FL 32303

There is no fee to attend.

To register, we just need some basic information:
• Your name and the name of anyone attending with you,
• An email address or mailing address and phone number for follow-up,
• The age of your son, daughter or child you care for, if applicable
• The type of diagnosis or symptoms.

We'll also ask if there is any other information you'd like to share that might be pertinent to the teachers such as how long your child/adolescent has been experiencing symptoms. For professional caregivers we will need information that connects you with children and adolescents with a mental illness.

That's it.

We remind you this class is designed specifically for adult family members and not children. We are looking at options to offer childcare, but at the moment it is not available. Please know that all information is confidential and only necessary to determine the general makeup of the class.
  • Please add the name of anyone who may be attending with you.

  • Please indicate the age and relationship to the child/adolescent and mental illness symtoms and diagnosis, if any. If you are a teacher or case worker, please tell us a little bit about why you are interested in attending this education program. This section is limited to 200 words.
