Types of Sensor-Based Driveway Alarms

Humans, by nature, are protective of the things and people that and who are important to them. They always try to find ways in order to ensure the security of their families, as well as the properties, such as cars, products, and houses, that they own. The importance of providing security has increased because of the escalating number of crimes being committed around the world. In fact, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in the year 2015 alone, there is approximately $14.3 billion worth of properties lost due to burglary and robbery. With too much at stake, people started installing security systems in and out of their residential and commercial properties.

These security systems are basically manufactured in order to deter burglars and robbers. Secondarily, they can also offer protection for people within the property. Such is due to the fact that most burglaries or robberies often lead to other crimes especially if people are around at that very moment. Security alarms are the most helpful items that can buy individuals some time to call or alert the authorities. Such is due to the fact that a loud sound will be produced once the alarm is tripped or touched. Most of the time, these products are already connected to the monitoring department of the manufacturer, thus, they are the ones who alert the authorities. Some of them are also connected to a monitoring camera.

A driveway alarm is always the most recommended product to be installed in a property. This is supported by studies and reports that have shown it is the most common area where burglars enter. Purchasing an alarm system may seem easy but actually it is not. Thus, people should be aware that these systems sold by different companies have different features. Thus, it is very important for them to identify their specific needs and wants. In general, driveway alarms are composed of two parts. One is the sensor. It is the part that is able to detect the presence of any potential burglar or criminal. Second is the receiver. It is the one that is able to alert the company or owner. As time passed by, wireless driveway alarms have also been produced. In addition to the two parts, manufacturers also added a transmitter that will sends signals to the receiver. These systems also have different distance capacities. Meaning, the distance at which they can sense the presence of potential burglars differ.

As an overview, each sensor based driveway alarm system is made up of different types of sensors as well. Some of them have a passive infrared sensor attached.

It works in the mechanism of detecting the presence of heat. Thus, it is able to determine if there are people and vehicles within the vicinity. Some of the problems encountered are that it also has the ability to detect the presence of animals, thus, false alarms are common. However, people who live in areas where wild animals may be a threat can take advantage of such. Systems that have magnetic probe sensors, on the other hand, detect the presence of moving metals. Thus, it can only alert people if a vehicle is present. Another are systems that have rubber hose sensors. They are able to sense disturbances because of pressure applied on them. These are commonly installed in commercial properties.
