GUIDELINES
Exeter Phoenix Short Film Commissions 2012


DEFINITION
• We are looking for proposals to shoot a short, digital format film of 5-12 minutes duration. Films must be based on an original script or treatment but can be of any genre, for example; narrative film, animation, documentary, visual art film, music video, etc.


ELIGIBILTY
• Proposals are invited from individuals and groups who reside in Devon.


• We actively encourage applications from, students and first time filmmakers as well as those with previous experience. Do not send showreels at this stage; we will view previous work if you are invited to interview.


DETAILS
• We are offering a budget of up to £500. This money may be used for production costs and crew expenses. If you are not familiar with any software or equipment required for the production, you may be asked to undertake training at Exeter Phoenix Digital to be funded out of the bursary or at your own cost.

• Exeter Phoenix Digital will provide the use of camera, lighting, sound equipment and studio space for a period of up to 5 days. An edit suite will also be available for a period of up to 5 days for post-production.

• Exeter Phoenix Digital will act as Executive Producers for the film.

• Copyright of the project will remain with the filmmaker. Exeter Phoenix Digital will share the distribution rights with the filmmaker.


DEADLINES
• Following the deadline of Friday 17th February 2012 successful candidates will be short-listed for interview. Interviews will take place in late February 2012.

• If successful and you are offered a Short Film commission, you will be asked to arrange a shooting and/or editing schedule with Exeter Phoenix Digital.

• Projects must be completed and delivered by Wednesday 1st September 2012.

• Completed films will be premiered at Two Short Nights Film Festival 2012.


HOW TO APPLY
• Please study the guidelines carefully and supply all information requested.

• Please include an outline treatment/synopsis of your idea. This idea should not be more than 400 words.

• Do not send showreels at this stage; we will view previous work if you are invited to interview.

• We are unable to accept applications by post or fax.

• Late application will not be considered.
