WYAK Writing Young Alaska Instructor Application
Our WYAK Workshops encourage young writers to explore the joy of language and the power of expression with creativity, spontaneity, and a sense of adventure. In 2012, we plan to offer in-school workshops through a WITS (Writers in the Schools) collaboration with Anchorage School District as well as after school, weekend, and holiday workshops at Loussac Library's Teen Underground and other locations.

Contingent on funding, we plan to pay instructors $50 per instructional hour for workshops of up to 15 young writers. We expect workshops to run in 4, 6, 8, and 10-hour blocks. The same workshop might be offered in different locations - classrooms, Teen Underground, Covenant House - for different audiences.

In addition to teaching, instructor duties include preparing course descriptions, curriculum, and lessons; attending staff meetings in person or by Skype; responding to student work; and promoting publishing opportunities in our online and print anthologies. Our WITS instructors also collaborate with classroom teachers.
