There are a lot of
cheats for Grand Theft Auto V single player mode. Cheat codes are found throughout video games, but GTA V has more than most, possibly because the developers knew their fans would like to mess around. Some cheats have practical value, such as codes to give the player invincibility or maximize their health, but even those cheats don’t unbalance the gameplay too much. Cheats can’t be activated during game missions, and if the player starts a mission with a cheat on, the effect is disabled. Additionally, it is impossible to earn trophies or achievements with cheats active, so players still have to complete such challenges with their own skills.
However, many players find cheats to be quite entertaining. A cheat system like that in GTA V lets them try out all kinds of things. For example, there is a freefall cheat. By entering the code, the player causes their character to disappear and respawn up in the air. They can’t use a parachute, which makes it a risky move, but they can have fun with their character in freefall. Some players combine it with the previously mentioned invincibility or health cheats so their character doesn’t die even after crashing into something.
While there are the standard sorts of weapon cheats games often have—extra weapons, extra ammo, etc.—there are also cheats that will twist combat around. Players can use codes to make all of their shots explode, or shoot flaming bullets at their enemies. For that matter, they can use a code to make even their melee attacks explosive. They can spawn a vehicle with the proper code, and it’s not limited to just cars. There are cheat codes for a whole variety of vehicles, including attack helicopters. Players can alter gravity or their character’s physical capabilities or even change the weather to whatever conditions they would like to see. And, just for kicks, they can enter a code to make their character act as though he is drunk.
These codes and many more are entered in the same way, either from within the game or from the pause menu. Each code is a string of buttons that must be pressed in order. The directional pad should be used for any directional commands. Some cheats last for only a set period of time, such as the invincibility cheat, which lasts five minutes. Players must enter codes manually each time they want to activate them. They also last for only a single session, so if players use cheats and then quit their games, they will need to enter the cheats again the next time they play.
GTA V has more cheats than just those described here. With the wide variety of cheats to pick from, fans of the series should be quite pleased with the things they can try.
