"I have previously worked as Legal Researcher in a Local Government Unit of Surigao City, Philippines. It was my first job experience working in legal field after graduating law school thus my excitement and enthusiasm. It was indeed fun, challenging, and a learning process all at the same time - it was my practical application of all the things I have learned for 4 years in school coupled with challenges such as lack of manpower, resources, deadlines, outdated law books, policies and procedures that was never been discussed inside the classroom, and a lot more. My function however went beyond to Paralegal because I also prepare briefs, pleadings, affidavits, answers summons, and even filing motions - through that process I needed to do intensive research of laws and jurisprudence that will support my statements.

It was a very fulfilling job, specially when we won the a huge tax case against a large scale mining company that went on for years. The case has been decided by the court with original jurisdiction, in favor of the mining company, and it was during my employment when we filed the appeal to the Courts of Appeal. We expedited the proceeding when I discovered that the witnesses' testimony should not be admissible as they are all to be considered "hearsay" for they do not have personal knowledge of the matter. However, the court decision came in 2 months after I left the office as it already financially impractical for me to continue working as casual employee with months of delayed salaries.

Thereafter I hopped in to another company wherein I worked as an HR/ Admin Officer but fate took part and I got an offer for a company in Dubai. I generally worked as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director/ General Manager and HR Manager wherein I was responsible for matters regarding my Boss' daily calendar, correspondents, meetings and agenda, travels. As an HR Manager, I needed to be updated with the laws, policies, visa applications and procedures, labor standards and the like, and to make sure that our company is in compliance therewith. My first company provides technical and cleaning services although the company focused more on repairs and maintenance of electrical wirings, ceilings, and walls of apartment buildings and offices. The second company I worked for in Dubai deals with Events Management, Mascot Productions, and Mall Decorations. We handle few accounts like Dubai Mall (one of the biggest Malls in the world), the Mall of the Emirates in which we had 3-year contract of setting up festive decorations. My Boss have other companies within and outside UAE, such as but not limited in Egypt and UK. With that, I also have to review all the contracts he enters into and in line with the laws of the countries the contract will take effect hence, further research.

Other than that, the last company I worked for treats each other as family and working in a multi national company have a lot of challenges that is bound to happen specially when personal problems are brought in to the office such as when they apply for visas of their families that will come to the country to visit, when an employee have an over due accounts in banks and the latter files a case against our staff, when the spouse overstayed in the country, an employee was caught buying liquor, and more - all that are considered personal yet, the company has to be involved in processing bonds, fines, dealings and negotiations of payment rescheduling, studying the remedies and alternatives in situation like that, most specially UAE Laws changes from time to time."
