"Recently, I was working as a paralegal, writer and researcher for a Hawaii-based law firm for more than one year. I was engaged to work as a paralegal and writer tasked to review and draft contracts, pleadings, draft company policies, and plan for SOC, GDPR, CSA attestations, and marketing research for different US-based online companies.
For the actual work, I was usually given a background of the case and available documents from the Client. I was then given a task, whether on research or drafting. I was assigned a certain allegation or issue and I have to research, draft a defense or support position paper for it, and supply applicable laws and decided cases. It is then up to the Firm lawyers to use or discard the output. For the most part, it is our boss who handles the litigation aspect.
I was initially assigned to research policy and draft position papers. The main bulk of the research is for Corporate and Intellectual Property concerns of a Client Company specializing in IT. Later on, I was assigned to draft specific parts of pleadings for Consumer Rights cases such as the Lemon Law (Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act), and Hawaii's Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices Law (HUDAP), especially on jurisprudence and related cases that are applicable. The Firm operated in Hawaii and California and has Clients in both states.
Further, a lot of the work I did centers on drafting tailor-made documents for an IT Company. I have to research applicable laws and update or completely revamp their existing documentations to comply with the standard of the Current California and Hawaii Laws. One of the most demanding tasks I handled was to update policies and documentations to comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation for European Union, which came out in 2018).
My job experiences include being a court employee for more than six years, doing clerical work, perform legal research, and draft court decisions. I have also worked contact center agent for an American company and a College English Instructor. As to my online writing experience, I have previously worked as a content and SEO writer. I am a hardworking person who needs minimal supervision on the job. Once the tasks are handed to me, I always perform a thorough research before starting to work. With more than six years of experience in content writing, this has helped me develop my expertise in the field."
