Pre-Purchase Examination Authorization Form

Pre-purchase exams start at $150.00. Please see pre-purchase exams on our
Services page for information on two and four stage pre-purchase exams.
Provided the horse has a current Coggins test, a certificate of veterinary
inspection can be included at no extra charge if needed for interstate travel.

Optional diagnostic tools include the following:
Radiographs: Taken to evaluate for bony abnormalities.
$40/view for the first 3 views or $35/view for 4 or more.
A minimum of two, and preferably four views are needed to evaluate each joint.

Bloodwork:
-Complete Blood Count (cbc): $24 (checks for anemia and increases or decreases
in white blood cells which could indicate impending illness).
-Biochemistry Profile: $48 (basic screening for kidney/liver function)
-CBC + Biochemistry profile: $65

Any diagnostics beyond the pre-purchase examination will be discussed with
the buyer prior to initiation. If the buyer can not be contacted during the examination no other
tests will be done unless agreed upon prior to exam.

While this information is very important it is unfortunately never a complete picture.
Many factors that impact a horse's health are not necessarily detectable on the day of
the exam. The veterinarian cannot predict the horse's future, and no guarantee can be issued.

The role of the veterinarian in the pre-purchase examination is not to
“pass” or “fail” the horse. Instead, it is to help you, the buyer, to make a more
informed decision by providing information about the horse's health. Ultimately the
decision to purchase this animal can only be made by the prospective buyer.
