WHAT TRAINING & EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE WORKING WITH PLANTS?
Although our Micro-Farms Manager has the support of our VP for Bulbs (with a Horticulture degree from MSU) and our owner Scott (who knows a LOT about bulbs), out in the field you’ll be mostly on your own, and you need to know what you’re doing. Please tell us about your training (both formal and informal) and your experience (both paid and otherwise) with plants, especially the types that we grow in our micro-farms. *

ARE YOU UP TO THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS?
You will be on your feet (or knees) all day every day, in all sorts of weather and in temperatures ranging from the 30s to the 90s. If that sounds good, tell us about your experience with demanding physical work like this. *

HOW WOULD YOU RATE YOUR ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS & ATTENTION TO DETAIL?
You’ll be responsible for keeping tens of thousands of plants of nearly 400 different varieties – many of which look identical when they’re not in bloom – separate, labeled, mapped, and correctly identified at all times, even when we’re all in a mad rush. No problem? Please tell us about your relevant skills and how you’ve managed other situations like this. *

HOW ARE YOU AT TIME MANAGEMENT?
Planning ahead is a big part of this job, and everything has to get done on schedule. (Mother Nature can be very unforgiving.) You’ll also be responsible for managing the time of an assistant or occasionally two. Please tell us about your experience managing complex, long-term projects and making sure everything gets done on time. *

WHEN CAN YOU WORK?
We need someone who can work 30-40 hours every week from about March 15 through November 15 or so. Will you have any problems doing this? *

WHAT ABOUT THE WINTER MONTHS?
Would you be interested in 10-15 hours/week of office work during the off-season, Nov. 15-March 15? Or what plans do you have for those three months? *
