BASIC DETAILS

APPLICATION WINDOW NOW CLOSED

**All applicants by 2pm on Monday 9 Nov will get a space but you must pay via the link you will be redirected to immediately. We can't/won't chase you if you apply but don't pay the admin fee, as all remaining labels will be posted out that afternoon!**

* The Sale is a large ticketed sale, NOT a table top sale. You DON'T pay a flat fee for a table, INSTEAD you pay £4 (for your price labels) & keep the majority of money made on the items you sell (see below).
* Sellers keep 70% of everything they sell whilst NCT retains 30%.
* All NCT's profits (after costs e.g. venue hire etc) go to fund the work of the charity locally & nationally (e.g. helplines, parent support groups, soft play sessions, breastfeeding support etc). Unlike a number of commercially run sales/franchises, those who organise the sales are unpaid volunteers.
* We had over 325 people attend our last large ticketed sale in June 2015 and over 500 attended our Christmas sale in 2014.
* Large ticketed sales are like 'pop up' baby/maternity shops so are very different from other Nearly New Sales running in the area (i.e. table top sales where you have to visit each stall and often 'rummage').
* All stock is pre-sorted (e.g. all slings are placed together) making it really easy for customers to find what they are looking for.
* 28 clothes rails will be used (most are double bar to increase capacity), sorted by gender, age & type (all coats for 2-3 year old boys in one section for example).
* Credit/debit cards are accepted and we will give away free re-usable bags.
* Maximum number of items you can sell is 140 (you can bundle low value things together e.g. a bundle of 5 vests counts as one item)

SELLING WITH US

* We send you coloured tickets to price up your items. A £4 non-refundable admin fee covers the cost of these labels & posting them to you.
* You are allocated a unique seller number (this will change for each sale) so we know how much commission to pay you. This is paid via BACs. You will receive an email within 3 weeks of the sale from NCT HQ letting you know your payment has been authorised. Payment should follow shortly after.

WHO CAN SELL?

* Making an application does not guarantee you will get a space - it depends on the help you are offering (the bottom line is giving more help increases the chances of getting a space).
* This form is designed so that those offering the kind of help we still need will automatically be offered a space and will be immediately re-directed to a payment page (for payment of their £4 admin fee).
* If we still need more help than you are offering (e.g. you can't help during the sale but we still need this kind of volunteer) your application will sit on a waiting list.
* Sorry we no longer offer spaces to those who cannot help at all - it is hopelessly unrealistic as volunteers are hard to find. As a volunteer team ourselves we also don't have the time to look for these rare specimens! The sales are also a huge logistical exercise - we know from experience that we need all the help we can get. If you hoped to just drop off your items and not spend any time helping out we're afraid this isn't the sale for you....

    * BHASVIC Sports Centre (4 badminton court sized sports hall 33.5 metres x 17.3 metres) this is a similar size to Portslade Sports Hall used in June 2015 (which was spacious & didn't experience any overcrowding) & DOUBLE the area of the Hove Cricket Ground venue used in November 2014
    * Free Parking on site
    * Buses 14/14C/27/56 stop outside (alight BHASVIC) or 7 to George Street stops 5 mins away at Seven Dials
    * Step Free Access
    * Baby Change Facilities
    * Separate Huge Cafe with mezzanine above Sports Hall accessible via lift (hot & cold drinks, home made cakes/biscuits).
    * Free Taster Sessions for customers planned (Subject to bookings)
  • APPROXIMATE TIMINGS

    Saturday 14 November 2015
    10:00-13:00 Preparation of Hall for sale (construction of rails, putting out tables, putting out signage, putting out goods)

    13:00-13:15 Lunch in canteen area (please bring a packed lunch. NCT will provide hot/cold drinks). Volunteer Briefing to be given during this time. If we finish preparation earlier we can have a longer lunch(!).

    13:15-14:00 Volunteer pre-sale (volunteers who help during the sale ONLY). Please do NOT start shopping prior to this time.

    14:00-16:00 Sale open for NCT Members
    14:30-16:00 Sale open for general public

    16:00-18:00 Sort out unsold stock & clear away. Please ensure you help collapse the rails, sort the hangers & load the van up - leaving it to just one or two people is thoughtless (would you want to be lumbered with doing this with little help? - please remember I will also have had a very long day and want to get home to put my feet up too!). At the last sale we managed to do this in just an hour.

  • WHAT YOU CAN & CANNOT SELL

    There are certain items that you are NOT able to sell e.g. car seats, potties and mains electrical items. Please see the seller's information pack for a full list of items not allowed in the sale (this document can be viewed below).

    Please do not try to sell damaged or incomplete items (e.g. jigsaws or games with pieces missing) as it causes upset and damages our reputation. It is hoped no one would try and do this; anyone found to be doing so deliberately will be banned from future sales.

  • SELLER REGISTRATION WINDOW

    Seller registration window for this sale will close on Monday 9 November 2015. A reminder email will be sent to those on the seller's database just before we close.

    We cannot take any applications after this point as we need enough time to send your tickets out (by 2nd class post). You will need these tickets in order to price up your items for sale.
  • APPLICATION FORM

    * Complete this form to apply for a seller space. Paper applications via the post, verbal requests & email requests to 'save a space' are not accepted.
    * A new application must be completed for every sale as details change (yours and the information we ask from you).
    * Ensure you have read the Seller's Information Pack embedded into this application BEFORE you complete the details below.
    * You will receive an on screen 'success' message but NOT an email.
    * If we can offer you a space you will be re-directed to pay the £4 admin fee IMMEDIATELY. Please remember that we only send your labels out once you have paid this fee (and registered your bank details for payment of your commission afterwards!).
    * If your application is placed on the waiting list (as we are still needing more help than you can offer) you WON'T be re-directed to pay. If/when we have enough volunteers you will be sent a link. If we don't get enough volunteers then we won't offer a space.
    * NCT won't send you a confirmation email but but we will receive a copy of your application form as soon as it is submitted.
    * All fields with a red * are mandatory: you will be prompted to enter any missing information before you can submit the form.
    * You can only submit one form
  • All fields are mandatory. Please ensure you include your postcode.
  • Please give at least one contact number in case we are unable to get hold of you via email. As this field is mandatory if you do not have a mobile just enter '0' as your number
  • Please insert a different area code if you do not live within the local area. As this field is mandatory if you do not have a landline then just enter '0' as your number
  • You are on the database if you received an email with a link to this form on Sunday 25 October - the email had pictures of the June sale on it. You can ask to unsubscribe at any time from the database. Being on the database means you should always receive an email every time seller registration opens.
  • Please select; available in multiples of 20 up to a maximum of 140.
  • Tick as many as you feel happy to make. You will only be asked to supply one however! If you are feeling a little anxious/lacking in ideas we can email you some tried and tested recipe ideas for all of these options!
  • Our large ticketed sales are well known for being extremely well organised and easy for customers to navigate. To do this we must ask for lots of help. We are realistic in knowing that we cannot hope to find enough non-seller volunteers (volunteers are hard to come by and we don't have the time to look for them either!). It is worth remembering all other types of selling (table tops, small ads, auction sites) require you to spend time too. If you hoped to just drop your items off and not contribute any time at all - we're afraid we aren't the place for you to sell, although we are not quite sure who else does actually allow you to do this....

    (C) Queue Handler (directing to free till point)
    (D) Cafe (in separate area - making hot/cold drinks, serving cake, taking monies)
    (E) Doors (taking entry fee/checking NCT cards prior to opening NB this may reduce time you can shop in the pre-sale)
    (F) Behind the scenes (sorting detached labels by seller number into envelopes)

    (H) Boys Wear
    (I) Equipment, Maternity, Toys, Books & Shoes
    We give everyone the highest option possible, however we can't always accommodate everyone's top choices as we do need to find volunteers to cover all the roles!
  • Anything else we need to know - e.g. you will be bringing a baby with you etc etc....
  • WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

    * Click on 'Submit Form' Button

    * If we can offer you a space right now you are redirected to another site to pay your £4 admin fee. Once this has been paid your labels are sent out to you usually the same day.

    * If we cannot offer you a space yet (e.g. you cannot help during the sale but we need to still recruit more volunteers to help in the sale) your application will sit on a waiting list. Instead you will see an on-screen acknowledgement from 'email me form' - this confirms that you have completed your application and it has been sent to us.

    * Please note that you WON'T receive an automatic email from NCT.

    * If you don't get offered a space immediately but we are subsequently able to offer this then we will send a link to pay the £4 admin fee.

    * Your space is ONLY confirmed after payment of the admin fee.

    * On receipt of the £4 fee you will be sent an email from NCT confirming payment including your seller number.

    * We will also send you links to documents (e.g. advice on pricing and labelling, volunteer roles etc).

    * Your labels will be sent via 2nd class post (we use the address quoted here not on the NCT system just in case they haven't updated your records.

    * Everyone will hear by Tuesday 10 November - this will include if you have been unsuccessful.

    * Please email us with any questions. Please do ensure you re-read the Seller Information Pack first as this may answer your query.

    ** This form is set to only accept one application per person. If you try and click on 'submit' more than once - this should reassure you it has been received successfully! **
