The Bridgeton Code Blue Program, started by Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly and several local congregations, was created to provide "Warming Centers" as a way for homeless persons in the community to find shelter from frigid overnight temperatures during the cold winter months.

At the present time, St. Andrews Church, Bethany Grace Community Church, Salvation Army, and Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church have agreed to serve as "warming centers" for the Code Blue project.

A "Code Blue" is initiated by the Mayor when temperatures are 32 degrees with precipitation or 25 degrees without precipitation. Designated Warming Centers at the locations listed on this form will rotate on a weekly basis. Warming Centers are open from 6:00 pm until 6:00 am on nights when Code Blue is in effect.

In order to keep these warming centers open, volunteers are desperately needed to help in overseeing and supervising the facilities. Shifts are broken into 4 hour blocks (6:00 pm - 10:00 pm/ 10:00 pm - 2:00 am/ 2:00 am - 6:00 am). Volunteers are encouraged to bring a book or something similar to help pass the time while people sleep.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Please consider joining the team of Code Blue Volunteers at any one of the designated warming centers.

Code Blue Warming Centers provide meals (when available), cots, linens, blankets and items such as socks, coats, gloves, and other clothing items to those in need based on availability. If you can't serve at one of the warming centers in a staffing capacity, please consider donating items for distribution.
