• GSO: Council of Graduate Students Representation Application

The Council of Graduate Students (COGS) strives to represent all graduate and professional students at Michigan State University. Each academic department holds a COGS representative seat so students may be represented through their department
(see: http://cogs.msu.edu/people/representatives/). However, COGS acknowledges that a single department representative may not be sufficient to ensure all voices are heard. Therefore, the COGS Representation Committee encourages Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) serving graduate students from diverse backgrounds to use this form to apply for representative membership on the COGS Full Council.

**This application does not guarantee that representative membership will be awarded to your organization. You will be notified via email with the Representation Committee’s findings on the status of your application before the end of the semester during which you applied. Applications received after March 30th will be considered with Fall applications due to the nature of full council and committee meeting schedules. Your group may be contacted for additional information if needed.
  • It is preferable that the person filling out the application be an elected leader of the group (e.g. President, Treasurer).
  • This is the email address you would like us to respond to your application with.
  • If unsure, how many on average attend the meetings of your group.
  • Each academic department holds a COGS representative seat so students may be represented through their department. Why is there a need for this specific group to have representation?
  • Are there other groups on campus representing these students? If so, why should this group be the primary representation?
