"Since 2012 I have been working in the call center industry and I've been exposed to various line of businesses. The call center industry provided me the excellent environment in honing my English communication skills and multi-tasking- this where I learned how to speak to a client/customer professionally while simultaneously logging any relevant details and to look for the appropriate resolution for their concern at the same time.

My first job was to handle billing concerns for DirecTV- a cable company. My primary obligation was to address our customer's questions about the changes on their bill and provide an accurate calculation on how the current amount was generated.

After a year, I joined a new company that handles student loans at Sallie Mae. Much like my first job, my main responsibility was to interpret the amount generated and provide a detailed but clear explanation to the loan holders on how their payments are being allocated to their loans. Additionally, I also provide alternative payment options for loan holders currently experiencing financial challenges or those who wish to pay a higher amount in exchange for a shorter payment term- thus avoiding the interest that would otherwise accrue on a lengthier repayment term.

My most recent call center work was at IHG- Intercontinental Hotels Group as a Reservations Sales Specialist. This is a Sales focused job and my task were to answer incoming calls from guests and potential guests and address their concerns accordingly; some are calling about an existing reservation and needs help in either modifying it or cancelling it, while others call us to book a reservation. The job itself is pretty straight forward, they ask for a reservation and I book them once they gave their confirmation. But every now and then, some would simply provide a date and location where they want to stay. It is up to me to check the location for any available properties that we may have their, verify that the hotel that I found is indeed available for the date/dates that they need it, and inform the potential guest on the nightly rate. While I'm doing all of this, I am expected to maintain a normal-flowing conversation wherein the guest doesn't feel like he's in a question and answer survey- of which I had excelled in during my tenure at IHG."
