"In 2013, I started my Customer Service career in a BPO company. I was an undergrad with no CSR experience. That was the time I've realized that this is the only industry where I have equal opportunity as everyone else because I was hired though I didn't finish college. My responsibilities in this role included handling inbound calls, cold calling, and taking accurate notes of conversations with customers. This position has given me important skillsets and allowed me to experience working in a fast-paced work environment.
I've also worked as a Customer Support and Data Entry Specialist for an Insurance Company. I was handling incoming calls from policyholders, responding to their inquiries, and providing insurance quotes and policy changes. By working from home, I had the chance to prepare healthful meals for myself and I didn't have to fight traffic getting to the office, however, my laptop at that time was quite old and it was affecting my work performance. I couldn't afford to buy a new one so I quit and re-joined the corporate world.
My attempt to work office-based didn’t last long. It was February of 2018 when I decided to quit my corporate job and grab an opportunity to work remotely again. For the past 3 years, I've worked as a Virtual Executive Assistant for a Texas car dealership. The automotive industry was very new to me because, for a good portion of my life, my family didn't have a car. I got very afraid but my employer was very patient with me and he trained me personally as we go. My day-to-day tasks include returning and answering phone calls from auctions and dealership agents about vehicle tags, titles, and vehicle payments. I was also assigned to respond and manage emails, upload scanned documents to inventory, and giving new signups initial or introductory calls. I actually loved my job. My teammates were great, helpful and my employer was very generous to all of us. I did not just found an employer but a friend and a person who is willing to invest in me. Sadly, he has filed for bankruptcy last month and the company decided to conduct a layoff."
