" I have been in the business process outsourcing industry for more than 8 years now, and have spent most of my employment years under one company, handling different accounts both local and international.

I started off as an inbound sales representative for Dish Network and our goal was to turn inquiries into sales, which mainly involved guiding and giving suggestions to customers the most fit or best packages that meet their preferred programs within their financial margin. Next, was a seasonal account – Teleflora, where we took orders over the phone for customers who wanted to send flowers for their loved ones, and gave upgrade or add-on suggestions to eventually increase our overall sales for that season. Then, I worked for a short period of time as a leads verifier for a consumer credit reporting agency – Equifax. The goal was to mainly identify working and non-working numbers of businesses or individuals through outbound-calling. After which, I re-profiled and started working for another US based client, Afligo - a customer engagement company that specializes in rebate, channel incentive and loyalty programs. Our tasks were focused on customer service, handling phone/email inquiries and rebate fulfillment.

After the above mentioned international accounts’ term ended, I was transferred to a local telecommunications account – Smart, where I functioned as a postpaid customer representative handling phone inquiries, billing, and basic trouble shooting. Inquiries include, but not limited to, checking account status, and addressing any issues that may be related to it, promotions, as well as retention or renewal of contract. Meanwhile, billing inquiries require a lot more on elaborating the breakdown of the accumulated phone bill of a subscriber. Lastly, as a basic technical troubleshooter, we were only expected to check subscribers account activity, give narrative steps to try and fix their technical issue on their own, otherwise, we transfer them to our dedicated technical team for assistance.

Due to the pandemic and continuous surge in the number of cases we’ve had in our province, I handed my resignation, and transitioned into working from home to keep myself and family safe. Luckily, I was hired as a virtual dental insurance verifier for nine months with Opencare. I used to verify patients’ coverage days prior to the service being rendered to avoid additional cost for them and prevent potential denial of claims for the clinics. We were given clinics’ access to verify via an insurance portal. While there are some instances when there is no accessibility at all, we request for fax-back and if some details are still not available via both portal and fax back, we call the insurance company to obtain the information we need. As soon as we complete verification, we upload the details we have gathered on the clinics’ system.

Unfortunately, the company decided to close shop because it also felt the economic effect of the pandemic."
