Michael A. McRee Fraternal Values Award
The Michael A. McRee Fraternal Values Award will be presented annually to a chapter of the Fraternal Values Society that demonstrates excellence in illuminating the central values that guided the historical founding of general fraternities and sororities and the incorporation of these values into the contemporary fraternity and sorority experience, locally and/or on a national level.

This award will be presented at a 2018 AFLV Conference, depending upon the award winner's region.

The deadline to apply is 5:00pmEST on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.
  • Purpose-Based Award Criteria

    The purpose of this award is to recognize an undergraduate chapter of the Fraternal Values Society who has demonstrated concerted efforts in advancing the mission and vision of the organization through, at minimum, the following:

    - The sponsorship of various educational programs throughout the year;
    - Creating opportunities for ongoing values-based dialogue and discourse;
    - Increasing awareness about fraternal values through programs, resources and support materials;
    - Empowering individuals to live their lives according to the fraternal rituals, assisting individuals and organizations who struggle to reach these standards, and confronting individuals and organizations who fail to uphold these ethical values;
    - Publicly recognizing individuals and organizations that exemplify their organizational values.
  • Award Eligibility Requirements

    - Chapter must have purchased its initial charter and held its first initiation prior to May 1, 2017
    - Chapter must be in good standing (financial and otherwise) with the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values. This includes all current member accounts being paid in full
    - Chapter must be in good standing, as a student organization, at their host institution
    - Chapter must have conducted membership intake within the current calendar year
    - Application must include a letter of support/affirmation from the campus-based FVS advisor

  • It is understood that this entry will be reviewed by the association of Fraternal Leadership & Values and the Selection Committee. The Nominator and/or the nominator organization may be asked to provide additional information in support of this application. All submissions and any attachments become the property of the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values. They cannot be returned, and may be publicized and included in the Association's publications and resources.
