Francis Hayward Scholarship Award


  • 1. The scholarship shall be known as the Francis Hayward Scholarship Award.
    2. The scholarship was established by the estate of Ethel M. Hayward in memory of her brother Francis Hayward, a 1952 graduate of Oswayo Valley High School.
    3. The scholarship shall be awarded to a graduating senior as selected by the Oswayo Valley School Scholarship Commitee.
    4. Applications shall be offered to the top 5 members of the graduating class.
    5. Applicants shall be required to complete the essay, attach a copy of their high school transcript, and a copy of a college acceptance letter.
    6. The selection shall be based on academic performance, essay, leadership, citizenship, school and community activities and potential for success.
    7. The scholarship award shall be $1,000.
    8. One half of the scholarship shall be awarded in August prior to the 1st college semester. The second half shall be awarded upon proof of successful completion of the 1st semester and proof of enrollment for the 2nd semester.
    9. The scholarship award shall be made payable to the student's account at the college or university the student is attending or directly to the student at his/her request.
    10. In the event the recipient does not return to college for the 2nd semester, the committee shall award the second half funds to a student selected as an alternate recipient.
    11. Completed applications must be turned into the Guidance Office by May 12th.
