I was offered to teach Computer Basics for grade school students in one of the universities here in Las Piñas. I was able to hold a teaching position for 12 years. Fortunately, while working as a teacher, I was offered by a publishing firm to write textbooks in which I pursued after leaving my teaching profession. Apart from being an author, I was also involved in resource speaking where I train teaching professionals of various schools in Metro Manila and in some parts of Luzon as well.
When I was ready to go back to work, I applied for an administrative position in another university in Las Piñas. However, the head of the recruitment office found my credentials more fitting to a teaching position in Senior High School level. I accepted the offer because it was also in the contract that I would be transferred to an administrative position once they get a replacement for me. Unfortunately, the school had the retrenchment of employees in which I was included due to a huge decrease in enrollment.
Few months after, I chanced on another opportunity in an office-based online ESL
teaching job. I was hoping to stay longer in that company but just like other businesses in the country, ours was also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
I think about myself as privileged to have been considered in different industries. In all my job experiences, I learned the value of commitment to work. I do enjoy engaging with people as well as teaching/training/coaching students and even
professionals. I get the sense of fulfillment whenever I see my learners or audience gain knowledge and confidence. For me, that fulfillment is the most rewarding experience.
