Aligning the Teen Srvcs Competencies to Your Work
YALSA’s new Teen Services Competencies for Library Staff provides a framework to enable library staff to meet the needs of teens in their communities. The Competencies inform all aspects of library service from program planning, to internal and external policies, to staff training and development. In this session, work with other library staff to take a deep dive into the Competencies and explore how to integrate them into your daily work. Come with a program plan, a job description, a policy, a staff and/or program evaluation tool, or another tool you use in your work and spend time aligning your day-to-day tools to the Competencies.

Let us know if you plan to attend the program. Please submit this form by June 1, 2018.

If you have questions about the pre-conference contact YALSA's CE Consultant, Linda W. Braun or Kate McNair, YALSA Board Member.

  • As a part of this session participants will have the opportunity to work on a specific library resource or tool to help integrate that tool with the Competencies. Please let us know what you would like to work on. (If your plans change by the time the conference rolls around that is OK. This will give us a general idea of what to expect.)
