Deductive reasoning, also frequently called deductive logic, is the action of reasoning from one statement to another in an effort to form an opinion or a conclusion.

The reasoning helps to link a premise with a conclusion. When the premise is true, the ideas and the end results are clear and concise. Therefore, this is followed by a conclusion.

The conclusion is reached via using general rules that will hold the entirety of the domain of discourse. It will take the time to narrow down the options and the opinions into information that can then be validated and used.

It's rather like an algebraic equation. If A and B are true then A plus B will be equal to C. That is how the deduction process of the reasoning will work.

Since the information given is true, then the extended information is true then the end result must be the conclusion.


It's not really as complicated as it may appear. Another good example is that if Sally is sick and throwing up, she will likely miss school today. She won't be in class because she is throwing up.

That was easy and quick to reason out. It's not complicated and it's not challenging. In most equations that are reasoning, it's not a challenging process. It works easily if you take the time to think it through and look at the potential results.

Many people fail to realize that they are using their deductive process on a daily basis. Every time they think a thought they are doing some form of reasoning.

To get from point A to point B one must first get out of the chair. It can also be contrasted with inductive reasoning. Here, regardless of the argument, the conclusion can be wrong or false.

There is no perfect argument. Someone always has to be right or wrong but, sometimes, right or wrong is only a perception or an opinion.


It's not really as complicated as it may sound but all in all, it's a way to determine an end result. You can sort it out, or you can simply ride it out and take what may.

There are many times that the very act of reasoning something out is met with fraught and error. Due to human error or computer error, it's irrelevant, it's all error. deductive reasoning is an art that we do do automatically without thinking in most cases.
