"When I was about 19 years old, I started working as a Customer Service Representative with a sales account. I did outbound and inbound calls answering customers’ inquiries, upselling products, creating new accounts, and cancelling orders. At first, it was very difficult for me to get used to handling a hundred or more calls a day. But as time passed by, I enjoyed it, and after a month, we received heart-breaking news that the account got dissolved. After that, I was transferred to another sales and retention account. I felt sad because I was enjoying my previous account, but I felt happy as well because I was able to learn new things and the number of calls per day weren’t as many as the previous. I enjoyed, in fact, I loved working with my new account that I didn’t even notice a year has already passed. But there came a need for me to leave the account, and so I did.

After I left, I applied for the same position but with a different account. So after a few months of missing what I always did, which is providing outstanding customer service, I started working again on a sales account. I felt uneasy at first thinking I had to do it all over again; the training program, getting to know my colleagues, and adjusting to the schedule. But to my surprise, my new account was pretty amazing. I enjoyed every single day of working. In the span of 2 years, I received various awards like the “Fast Learner” award, “CSAT Monster” award, and an award for accomplishing my tasks in a timely manner.

Exploring opportunities, after 3 years of working in the BPO industry, I became a Sales Executive of an automotive company. Almost everything that I did as an SE was similar to being a CSR, the only difference is that I did all the work talking to my clients face to face. We also had this weekly schedule of saturating specific areas to look for possible buyers or clients. It was hard at first, being conscious of what I look like when I’m talking to a client, whether I look like I’m interested in what he was saying or do I look bored and want to get straight to closing the deal. It really was a struggle for me for the first few months, especially because we had a quota to reach every month. I understand that every job has its challenges, so I tried my best to be good at working with this industry. I loved it and I learned a lot of new things in just a year."
