"I started working when I was in college while taking up a degree in pharmacy. I worked as a healthcare customer service for two years to support my school finances. A CSR’s workday is typically fast-paced and requires you to manage a handful of different responsibilities. My main responsibility was to assist our healthcare providers concerning insurance claims, eligibility, and benefits. Sometimes, I called the provider’s offices to check information or medical records for our patients as part of the requirements of the insurance. When I don’t have enough authority to make a decision a caller is seeking, I transfer the call to appropriate personnel, making sure that the callers know exactly why their call needs transferring. I learned how to use call center technologies like Avaya and Citrix which are advantageous in enhancing efficiency, productivity, and customer experience. I was able to develop problem-solving skills, call etiquettes, and attention to detail.

After I graduated from college, I decided to pursue a career in pharmacy. I was able to pass the licensure exam and I was hired at Watsons Personal Care Store as a store officer for four years. My day as an officer started with a visual assessment of the merchandise, making sure that all promotional materials are properly installed and the products are organized and clutter-free. I checked emails and in case of urgent announcements or implementations, I immediately gather my team and execute corresponding actions. Most of the time, I am in the selling area engaging with customers and overseeing retail operations. I receive and validate prescriptions. If there are erroneous findings, I call the attention of clinics or hospitals to ensure the correctness of medicines given to customers. Whenever there are complaints from our products or services, I handle it immediately and resolve problems. I also set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the company’s plans and vision and communicate them to my team. During the end-of-day process, I generate data from our computer system and enter those data in the sales monitoring sheet. I made quantitative and qualitative reports and emailed them afterward to our head office.

During my tenure in Watsons, I was able to develop an effective team and one of my pharmacy assistants was promoted to an officer level. My key performance indicators were consistently satisfactory for four years, especially in sales. I learned how to navigate retail operating systems like Oracle, Retail System Inventory Management, Barcode Tracking System, and Point-of-Sale System. Most importantly, I was able to hone three key skills: people management, operations management, and good customer service. Through those skills, I am confident that I can provide positive results for my clients."
