Choosing a Good-Paying Job from the Medical Profes

One of the fields where you can choose from a wide variety of careers is the medical profession. Good-paying, in demand, and fast growing - these are just three reasons why many are actively pursuing a career in the field of medicine.



Medical healthcare is one big industry. So many people want to ask a doctor for even the slightest health abnormality they notice. That's why in the US alone; there are already 14 million jobs for its professionals. One must understand, though, that each type has its own educational requirements. Some only need an associate degree while others would have to go through 4-7 years of higher education to earn a degree.


Six Months to One Year Courses


Here's the thing, though. You don't actually have to be in school for seven years to be considered a medical professional. With a minimum educational requirement of six months to one year, you can find a financially-rewarding career as a medical professional.


1.    Medical Assistants


A medical assistant serves as an assistant to physicians and handles several clinical and administrative tasks. People who want to talk to a doctor can confer with a medical assistant prior to the doctor's complete diagnosis.


2.    Paramedics and EMTs.


They are the first to respond during accidents or medical emergencies. They attend to either injured or sick individuals.


3.    Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses.


With the supervision or direction from doctors and professional nurses, vocational nurses provide basic nursing tasks and care to patients.


Two Years of Associate Degree


To become a doctor, you need to be in medical school for seven long stressful years. Nevertheless, if you want a medical career that pays higher than the mentioned professions above, you may want to pursue a course requiring an associate degree of at least two years.


1.    Radiologic Technologists


Professionals on this field are responsible for diagnosing images from different imaging hospital equipment like magnetic resonance imaging device, X-ray and computed tomography. But their task is not only confined with diagnostics. They also need to ready the patients before they undergo any of the procedures using the mentioned imaging equipment.


2.    Respiratory Therapists


They attend to emergencies related to breathing difficulties or disorders such as emphysema and asthma. They also provide aides to patients suffering from shock, stroke, and heart attacks and drowning. They may work in hospitals or provide professional home service to patients.


Four Years of Bachelor Medical Education


If you have always seen yourself working as a medical professional in hospitals or clinics and diagnosing symptoms of various conditions, you should invest at least four years of bachelor medical education.


1.    Nutritionists


These medical professionals are in charge of promoting healthy eating lifestyle to patients. They prepare healthy menus at schools, hospitals and nursing facilities.


2.    Registered Nurses


This can be considered one of the most popular medical professions. Registered nurses are usually assigned to patients to administer care but they may choose to be on the administrative side if they're not into patient care.


With the many field on the medical profession list, one may face hard time in choosing which to pursue. It is important then to know what you really want to do, what you don't want to do and what kind of working environment would you like to belong to.
