"My name is Pete Gancita and I am from Las Pinas City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Back in 2019, I graduated from San Beda College Alabang with a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Management. I am also taking up my Juris Doctor degree in the same institution.

When I was an intern during my senior year, I worked at the Regional Trial Court in Las Pinas City. There, I was tasked with assisting all of the staff members with their duties. This meant that my tasks included doing research work for the presiding judge where I double-checked some of the newly raffled cases to see if they were in our jurisdiction, assisting the branch sheriff in communicating with lawyers, police officers, witnesses and any other persons that were there for court hearings, assisting the branch clerks with encoding the orders of the court, updating the dockets of the court, keeping track of the progress of the cases for the day and other tasks that the presiding judge would assign. This experience taught me how to be flexible with my work and how to adapt and improvise to overcome different problems that were thrown my way.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, this newfound mindset of being flexible and adapting and overcoming problems was tested when I decided to file for a leave of absence from my Juris Doctor studies and to start working as a freelance paralegal with both Philippine and International clients. One of my clients was ENTOM Pest Control and General Services Corp. which is one of the major pest control companies here in the Philippines. There, I drafted, revised and proofread proposals for prospective clients, pest poisoning proposals, disinfection proposals and service agreements ranging from small projects such as residential and housing units to bigger projects such as agreements for hospitals and grocery stores. This is where I learned to multitask more efficiently because I handled several types of contracts at a given time.

For International clients, I worked with PIN Genie Inc. who is a manufacturer of smart locks in the United States. There, I revised and proofread their manufacturing agreements and service agreements which ranged from small projects where only two parties were involved in the contract to big projects where three parties were involved of which all were from different companies in different countries. This engagement was truly a challenge for me. I needed to be flexible, I needed to adapt and improvise to overcome situations and I needed to multitask and above all, this is where I learned that I needed to be detail-oriented due to the nature of my job.

In sum, I can say that these experiences taught me to be a better version of myself each and every time I learn something new. However, I can also say that it won't stop there. It's human nature! We make mistakes and we learn from these mistakes in pursuance of self-improvement."
