The Milton M. Miller Award
Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The Colorado Environmental Health Association’s highest honor is the Milton M. Miller Award. The award is given
annually when there is a deserving recipient. This award is given to an outstanding Environmental Health Professional in
a management position.

A. Eligibility

To be eligible for the Milton M. Miller Award, a nominee must:
1. Be a member in good standing of the Colorado Environmental Health Association.
2. Have performed professional duties in the field of environmental health above and beyond the usual
employment requirements so as to elevate the professional status of the environmental health
professional and/or CEHA as a professional organization.
3. Exemplify the characteristics and principles for which Milton Miller stood: excellence, leadership,
organization and dedication to the Environmental Health profession and CEHA.

B. Nomination Document
The following format is to be used for submission of nominations:

1. Detailed letter from the individual (s) making the formal nomination, including a description of personal
facts regarding nominee such as:
- Record of places of employment, including scope of responsibilities.
- Formal education, special training, and experience.
- Organizational affiliations, including CEHA, detailing offices and committee responsibilities and
contributions to the organization.
- Contributions to the Betterment and Practice of Environmental Health Sciences. These may
include: publications authored or co‐authored by the candidate; significant scientific or applied
research; accomplishments in the development or implementation of new, broader or improved
concepts in the practice of environmental health. Include copies of publications (or proper
reference to source) and other significant support documents.
2. Minimum of TWO letters of endorsement.

Special Note: The CEHA Board of Directors, when making the selection as to who will receive the award, is limited to the
contents of the support documents provided in the nomination packet as its sole source of information. Please be
thorough with your candidate’s history as measured against the listed criteria.
