"I am an Accounting graduate with 12 years experience in Accounting and Customer Service and 2 ½ years as a Virtual Assistant. The following are my work experiences beginning with the most current one.
I recently worked for Sliq Media Technologies as a Virtual Assistant for 2 1/2 years on a flexi-time schedule. The company is in Canada and provides digital media solutions to legislatures worldwide. They make software platform for servers to digitally record, livestream meetings, publish both audio and video content which then becomes the government official records. My job is to support the Marketing and Sales team, sourcing for leads in the US, updating the database on Microsoft Dynamics 365, organizing contact lists on Google Sheets for their shows, scheduling posts on social media for their marketing campaigns and online market research. I would say that the research part takes up 60% of the task and could range from existing vendor comparisons to exploring possible new products/markets. What I enjoyed most about this job is time flexibility, I work on my time but I make sure my deadlines are met on time. I learned a great deal about legislatures, city/municipal government staffs, how streaming is done to comply with online public reporting and the different kinds of services, products and prices offered by other vendors from the same industry. But sadly, no accounting here and I missed it.
Year 2002, I was hired as an Accounting Assistant (AP/AR) but was also assigned later on to be the company Receptionist/Front desk for Royal Stones Corporation in New York. I was in the jewelry industry for 10 years and I loved it. This is a busy office that specializes in gemstones, closeout deals and jewelry. This is my first and real hands on customer service experience and I enjoyed it very much. I answer queries, take down customer orders, managed all incoming calls, resolved discrepancies, while doing bookkeeping on the side. This job has the most variety, so I learned how to multi-task. Our goods are basically sent out on a per memo basis, the customer may either choose to keep the whole parcel or select from it. When the memo is a closed deal, I am the one in charge for creating invoices and sending it out in bulk, sending statements, receiving payments, depositing it in the bank and AR reporting. Another task is for the Accounts Payable, verifying bills, inputting it in the system, weekly check issuance for vendor payments, utility and credit card expenses and AP reporting. Later on, I managed the jewelry part of the business. Costing them, invoicing and shipping them out. On top of it, the administrative functions of this job are: daily bank balance reporting, handling email correspondence and calls, ordering supplies, filing, booking travel arrangements for trade shows, handling high value return of goods to Thailand, Hong Kong and India. Used Quickbooks, MS Word/Excel and Outlook.
October 2000, fresh out of college – I was hired as an Accounts Payable Specialist here in Cebu, Philippines and stayed for 2 years before going to US. Golden ABC, Inc. is one of the leading retail clothing company with around 4 brands under its name. I handled the Oxygen brand. I verified accuracy of billed data, resolved discrepancies, performed invoice and purchase order verification through SAP ERP system. I was also responsible for weekly issuance of checks to all store product vendors, billboard rentals, model’s talent fees, facilitated merchandise returns (e.g. shirts, caps, jeans, accessories), monthly reconciled and maintained a petty cash fund for the Marketing Department and performed minor payroll functions for all sales staff nationwide and warehouse personnel. I enjoyed working for this company. Aside from a lot of friends I made, we get evaluated and motivated very well with salary increase according to work performance. We also had first Friday mass in our chapel, company activities (e.g. Christmas party) for all departments and team building as well. Fun times, indeed."
