  • Admission Policy

The Head of School will direct the admission process, in his or her sole discretion. The final admission decision on each candidate will be made in accordance with this Admission Policy. Faculty members may assist with interviews and testing as needed, as appointed by the Head of School.

The Board of Trustees of Heritage fully empowers its Head of School to strictly enforce this policy and is committed to refraining from an interference or undue influence in the admission process.

A student will be considered for admission to Heritage School of Texas under the following conditions:

    1. The following documents must be read, completed (if applicable), and signed:

(a.) ADMISSION POLICY: The student’s parents must sign this document acknowledging they have read and understood this Admission Policy.

(b.) STATEMENT OF FAITH: The student’s parents must sign Heritage’s Statement of Faith. In signing that document, the parents agree to accept and support the Christian influence at Heritage for their child. While they are free to clarify at home how their personal beliefs may differ from the school’s, they must agree not to interfere with the school’s ability to deliver a distinctively Christian education to the student body.

(c.) MISSION & VISION STATEMENT: The student’s parents must sign Heritage’s Mission & Vision Statement document. Again, while their beliefs may vary, their signatures on this document will serve to acknowledge that they and their child will be supportive of the school’s mission and vision.

(d.) CONTRACT FOR ENROLLMENT: The student’s parents must complete and sign the Contract of Enrollment document.

(e.) PARENT COVENANT: The student’s parents must sign the Parent Covenant document acknowledging that they understand, agree, and commit to the bible guidelines set forth in the covenant.

(f.) AUTHORIZATION TO CONSENT TO MEDICAL TREATMENT: The student’s parents must sign this authorization in the unlikely event that their child needs medical treatment.

(g.) RELEASE TO PARTICIPATE IN ATHLETICS AND SCHOOL TRIPS: The student’s parents must sign this release document so that their child can participate in the activities mentioned in the document.

(h.) SCHOOL PUBLICITY RELEASE AGREEMENT: The student’s parents must sign this release document if they would like their child to be part of school publicity, publications and/or public relations activities.

    2. The applicable Enrollment Fee listed in the Contract for Enrollment must be paid in order to reserve a space for your child. Because spaces are limited, they are allotted in order of receipt of paperwork and the Enrollment Fee. When paying the Enrollment Fee, please make the check payable to Heritage School of Texas, and write the students name in the memo section of the check. The check should either be sent to Heritage School of Texas, Attn: Admissions, at 6125 Luther Lane #322, Dallas, Texas 75225, or delivered to the school office at 9401 Douglas Ave., Dallas, TX 75225.

    3. Both parents must be interviewed together, except in exceptional circumstances as determined by the Head of School. Heritage may also conduct an in-home interview/evaluation. As part of the formal interview process, parents will be asked to discuss their spiritual beliefs and acknowledge support of Heritage’s Christian worldview.

    4. At the discretion of the Head of School, the student may be required to have a full psycho-educational evaluation (no more than two years old) by a clinical psychologist, diagnostician, or other qualified professional. If required, this evaluation must indicate a diagnosed learning difference that falls within the range of needs that Heritage is equipped to meet as defined by the Mission and Vision Statement of the school.

    5. Each student’s potential success at Heritage will be assessed on a case-by-case base by the Head of School, an educational consultant, and any other qualified personnel at the request of the Head of School. These assessments will include a complete review of all psycho-educational reports, a placement screening with the Head of School, and may include the student’s participation in a day at school.

    6. The student’s academic record must indicate a potential to succeed in Heritage’s academic program. A student whose record does not meet the requirement, owing to extenuating circumstances, may be considered if the Head of School believes the Heritage environment will allow the applicant to succeed.

    7. The student must complete Heritage’s academic tests for admission, if applicable, as determined by the Head of School.

    8. The student must have no significant discipline issues. Heritage admits no students who are currently on behavioral warning/probation.

    9. The student and his or her family must receive positive evaluations and character references.

    10. Students are admitted for a single academic year and must be invited to re-enroll each year. Decisions regarding re-enrollment invitations are ordinarily determined no later than early January by the Head of School, in consultation with teachers.

    11. This Admission Policy may be amended and modified from time to time at the sole discretion of the Head of School. All decisions regarding the admission of a student is at the sole discretion of the Head of School. Delivery of the admissions documents and applicable Enrollment Fee does not form a contract for admissions, nor does it guaranty that the student will be eligible to be enrolled at Heritage.

    12. Preference in the admission process occurs only when a candidate is academically and otherwise qualified for admission. Siblings and faculty children are not automatically admitted. Among qualified applicants, the preferential order of acceptance is:
    -Current, qualified Kindergarten students
    -Siblings of current students
-Students whose admission will prevent an unbalanced ratio of boys and girls in the class
-Children of faculty or staff members
    -Children of Heritage alumni
    -All other applicants

  • Statement of Faith

    1. We believe that the Scriptures are the very Word of God in their entirety and, therefore, are our authority in matters of faith and practice.

    2. We believe in one God, creator of the universe, eternally existing in the persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

    3. We believe that God created man in His own image, and when man disobeyed God, he fell from grace and brought sin into the world.

    4. We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified for our sin, and raised from the dead in eternal victory. He is undiminished deity and genuine humanity in one person.

    5. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a personal Being who convicts the world of sin and who regenerates, indwells, empowers, guides, and seals believers eternally for God.

    6. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for the salvation of lost sinners, and that those who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again into the family of God.

    7. We believe that the family of God is the church, which is the body of believers of which Christ is the head.

    8. We believe that Heaven is the abode of God and the place of eternal joy for the saved, and that Hell is the place of eternal punishment of separation from God for the lost.

  • Mission and Vision Statement

    MISSION STATEMENT:

Heritage School provides a challenging Christian education to students of average to above average ability, who have learning differences. The school joyfully engages students’ hearts and minds within a framework of a distinctively Christ-centered education.

    VISION STATEMENT:

Through an individualized and multi-sensory approach that remediates a child’s weaknesses and builds on strengths, Heritage aims to return students to the mainstream academic environment as quickly as possible, equipped to be confident and capable students.

The Heritage curriculum takes a clinical approach to reading, writing, and arithmetic to ensure that students are ready to tackle life skills that require these tasks. Our History and Science curricula engage the student's natural curiosities, and build world knowledge within a Biblical framework. As a classically influenced school, language is central to all learning because it is the foundation of the humanities.

Our goal is to honor each family's time by enabling students to receive some of their needed therapy during regular school hours. Recognizing that each student has unique goals, Heritage works in concert with a variety of specialists. Heritage serves students with learning differences that include reading disorder (dyslexia), auditory processing disorder, oral and written language disorder, speech and language deficits, ADHD, and mathematical disability.

  • Appendix A

    Tuition Refund Policy

Heritage has financial and contractual arrangements with faculty, staff, vendors, etc., which are made in the spring before the beginning of the school year based on expected enrollment and other factors. These obligations make it MANDATORY that we require families to commit financially for the entire school year in March.

For Heritage to meet its contractual obligations to faculty, staff, and others, the refund policy is very restrictive. EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED IN THIS TUITION REFUND POLICY, OR UPON SPECIAL AUTHORIZATION BY THE HEAD OF SCHOOL, REFUNDS OF ANY FEE PAID TO HERITAGE WILL NOT BE GIVEN FOR ANY REASON. . The following is the Heritage policy regarding tuition payment and refunds::

    1. Each family who signs a contract of enrollment is responsible for the full tuition of their student(s).

    2. The Head of School shall maintain and monitor both a Wait List for those wishing to enter a Heritage Class, but cannot be immediately admitted due to class size or other restrictions and a Departure List for those who have committed but who cannot return to Heritage.

    3. The Head of School will service the Wait List with the Departure List. The most qualified candidate on the Wait List will be served by the senior candidate on the Departure List.

    4. All families who have signed a contract and whose student was admitted by Heritage, but whose student(s) will not enter Heritage as a result of the parent’s decision may contact the Head of School prior to the first day of school to be placed on the Departure List for possible replacement by a Wait List candidate.

    5. If, by the first day of school, there has been no replacement for the departing student, the remaining tuition is due and payable as contracted.

    6. If, prior to the first day of school (first trimester) a qualified replacement has been designated for the departing student, at the sole discretion of Heritage, and if the grade level is full, Heritage shall refund 60% of the total tuition accrued to date for that student. Heritage is not obligated to fill such vacated positions.

    7. If, prior to the first day of school (second trimester) a qualified replacement has been designated for that departing student, at the sole discretion of Heritage, and if the grade level is full, Heritage shall refund 30% of the total tuition accrued. Heritage does not normally admit students after the school year has begun, except when the Head of School finds a highly suitable applicant.

    8. Under no circumstances will the Enrollment Fee be refunded.

    9. No portion of the tuition shall be refunded for a student who is dismissed or withdraws for disciplinary reasons.

    10. Students not returning because of academic dismissal shall be placed on the Departure List by the Head of School automatically and in sequential order.

    11. Each student’s place is independent. No tuition can be transferred from one student to another.

    4. To abide by and support the policies and procedures of Heritage (Eph. 6:5)

    5. To speak in such a way as to build up the Heritage community and avoid gossip (Prov. 16:28; Prov. 20:19; Prov. 26:20)
