2023 AVCA Convention Application to Present
The American Volleyball Coaches Association would like to invite members and industry professionals to submit a proposal to be considered as a speaker for on-court, beach and classroom presentations at the 2023 AVCA Annual Convention. The convention will be held December 13-16, 2023 in Tampa, FL.

All proposals and suggestions will be considered for inclusion on the convention education schedule. With an extensive curriculum of more than 100 educational sessions, the AVCA Annual Convention is the volleyball industry’s most comprehensive learning event of the year.

Applications will be accepted March 1 - May 1, 2023.

    Presentation submissions will be evaluated on the following:

    - Content appropriate to audience needs
    - Content appropriate to convention program needs (all topics will be considered, but skill/systems sessions are of particular interest)
    - Organization of ideas
    - Relevance of topic
    - Presenter's frequency of speaking appearances at Convention
    - Presenter's ability to efficiently engage an audience
    - Presenter's expertise /credentials on the topic presented

  • Example Description:
    The science of coaching is critical and coaches must have a solid understanding of the technical aspects of volleyball. However, much of coaching success lies in the areas outside of x's and o's and on the court execution. It involves the art of coaching. This workshop will provide coaches the strategies they need to improve in this area of coaching. Specific topics to be addressed include strategies for establishing credibility as a coach, effective communication and motivation techniques, sound practices for handing disciplinary situations and the ability to balance accountability and empathy.

    Objectives
    1. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their coaching style and philosophy.
    2. Participants will define success for themselves as a coach and how that impacts their coaching.
    3. Participants will have specific strategies to make them more effective communicators, motivators and leaders.
