Christian Service Opportunities 2023 - 2024
Students in grades 6-10 are required to complete at least 5 hours of Christian service each year. Then fill out and return the service report which can be found on our website. You can return the report after each service or when your hours are completed.

1. Catechetical Sunday: September 17, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Help set up refreshments in the Church hall, attend 10:00 Mass; serve and clean up after Mass.
2. Teacher’s aide: You are always welcome to help during Monday evening classes or Sunday morning classes. Let us know if you are interested.
3. Family Day at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine: Saturday, September 30, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 Mass. This is also a family event (check the family event list). You will receive service hours just for the number of hours we work. The rest of the day counts as all 3 family events.
4. Family Rosary: Thursday, October 5; 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Lead a decade of the rosary (with a script).
Eucharist Exhibit: Saturday, October 14; Sunday, October 15. We will be hosting an exhibit about Eucharistic miracles open to everyone in the parish. You can attend one of the weekend Masses and welcome and direct people downstairs to the church hall.

6. Grace Guest House: Tuesday, October 12: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. We will help with yard work and decorating. Grace Guest House is located at 2315 Seneca St., Buffalo right by Cazenovia Park.
7. Be Thankful: (2 parts) Thursday, November 16, 7 – 8:30 p.m., plan Thanksgiving activities for kids and their families.
Tuesday, November 21; 6 – 8:00 p.m. Set up your activities and carry them out with the families, then cleanup
8.Celebrating Christmas: (2 parts) Thursday, December 7, 7 – 8:30 p.m., prepare Christmas activities for kids and their families. Tuesday, December 12, 6 – 8 p.m. Set up your activities and carry them out with the families, then cleanup.
9. Hot Chocolate bags: Monday, December 4, 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Help with our annual assembly of hot chocolate bag gifts for various charities.
10. Enrollment Mass: Sunday, December 10; 11:30 – 1:00. This will be for First Penance and First Eucharist children. Greet families at the doors before Mass. During Mass, help take kids downstairs for Liturgy of the Word and assemble them for a blessing during Mass.
11. Christmas Cards for shut-ins: Sign (no last names) and decorate at least one box of Christmas cards to be sent to shut in parishioners. Return to the Faith Formation office by Monday, December 11.
12. Shadow Stations: Be a part of presenting the Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m.: The Stations will be presented in the “Shadow Stations” style. Participants will be behind a curtain and give a still portrait of each Station. We will also need readers and stage hands.
Practices: (Mondays) February 26; March 4, March 11, March 18, 8 – 9 p.m. (After Monday evening class for convenience, but all students are welcome to participate)
Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, March 21, 7 – 8:30 in church.
Presentation of the Stations of the Cross: Friday, March 22, 7:00 p.m. in church
13. Thursday, March 7: Help with First Penance reception. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the church hall.
14. Prayer Path: Help set up, oversee and clean up. You can sign up for different days and times and help the whole time or, as long as you can.
Set up: Wednesday, March 20, 7 – 9 p.m. / Thursday, March 21: 7 – 9 p.m.
During Prayer Path: Welcome visitors and oversee.
Friday, March 22: 7-8:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 23; 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 24; 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Monday, March 25, 6 :00 – 8:30 p.m.
Cleanup: Tuesday, March 26; 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
15. Bowling for Hope: Saturday, March 20; 1 – 3 p.m. Abbott Alleys (Abbott Rd.)
$20 covers pizza, pop, shoe rental, two hours of open bowling including a $5 donation to Catholic Charities.
16. Easter Baskets for children: Make an Easter basket for a child, boy or girl, to be donated to local families in need. Deliver to the Faith Formation office by Monday, March 18. (1 hour)
17. Vacation Bible School: Summer 2024
During the summer/ set up dates will be announced / a fun week of leading activities for young children. The week will be Monday – Friday; 9 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
