The London Arts Council - Arts Education Classroom Experience (AECE) Program Application: for artists who are People of Colour.

The London Arts Council (LAC) aims to promote inclusion and celebrate diversity. The LAC believes that education can play a key role in building positive and respectful relationships between communities of diverse backgrounds.

Since 2015, the LAC’s Arts Education Classroom Experience (AECE) program has placed artists into classrooms of the Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board.

The London Arts Council is now accepting applications from professional artists who are People of Colour, residing in London, who have experience in dance, drama and visual arts (currently pencil drawing), to be part of the AECE program for this, and upcoming school years.

The LAC welcomes professional artists who:

1) have experiential, college or university training in the arts, and/or are recognized by their peers.

2) have experience teaching or guiding children in community and/or school settings.

3) are 18 years of age and older.

For the 2020-21 school year AECE artists will be paid $750 to create a teaching plan. They will be paid an additional $200 to work with a videographer to plan a series of art educational videos.

They will be paid $400 to work with a videographer to create four 40-minute art educational videos. The filming session will take place over 8 hours on a single day or two 4 hour days.

AECE artists will also have the option of preparing for and delivering a live one hour on-line Zoom session for which they shall be paid $100.

AECE artists will be paid $75 to attend an on-line Zoom training session. They will also be paid $50 to attend an on-line Zoom reflection and review session.

The application deadline is January 18, 2021.

Applicants must attach a letter describing their relevant experience and interest.

Only applicants who are selected for an interview will be contacted.

Interviews will be conducted by Jeremy Jeresky, LAC’s Curator, Public Programs and Learning, Eunju Yi, LAC's Administrator, Finance and Research, and an experienced AECE Artist.
