  • Principle Investigator Information

In this section we ask you to provide information about the Principal Investigator (PI) for the proposed research or applied project. The PI is responsible for the design, implementation, and dissemination of the proposed activity. A Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) thus shares the same level responsibility. Research or applied project team members that have limited responsibility for certain aspects of the proposed activity (such as an additional investigator, research assistant, community stakeholder, or consultant) or are assigned specific tasks for the proposed activity (such as transcriptionist, participant recruiter, or data analyst) should not be designated as Co-PIs. Information about these individuals should be included in the proposal design, budget, and budget justification, if applicable.
  • Please provide your Walden email.
  • Although there are no page limits or formatting requirements for submitting a C.V. or resume, please submit a document of professional quality. Please save your document as “CV – YOUR LAST NAME,” or “Resume – YOUR LAST NAME,” and the upload the document using the link provided above.

  • Supplemental Grant Proposal Documentation

  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from Walden is not required for faculty and staff to apply for a Research & Applications for Social Change Grant; however, for any funds to be disbursed to the grant recipient, proof of compliance with Walden University regulations regarding the protection of human subjects in research (IRB approval) is required.

Please note that it is not possible for grant awardees to deliver an intervention or program themselves or under the auspices of Walden University. Any interventions or programs related to the grant must be delivered and overseen by a partner organization that is qualified to do so, in alignment with local regulations and practices.

Although IRB approval is not required to apply faculty and staff must confirm with the Walden IRB Office (irb@mail.waldenu.edu) whether it is anticipated that ethics approval will be needed for their proposed research-based or applied project grant activities. Documentation of the institutional determination as to whether research ethics approval will be needed must be submitted as part of this application.

*If research ethics approval will be needed, please attach a copy of the correspondence with Walden’s IRB Office indicating their determination that research ethics approval will be required if the grant is funded.

*If research ethics approval will NOT be needed, please attach a copy of the correspondence with Walden’s IRB Office indicating their determination that research ethics approval will not be required if the grant is funded.

Please save your document as “IRB Documentation – YOUR LAST NAME,” and the upload the research ethics documentation above.

[Note: For all research involving human subjects, a part of the grant proposal review process will include careful consideration of protections from research risks. The review committee’s evaluation of the protections for research participants will be factored into the overall score for scientific and technical merit of the application.]

  • Institutional Approval (IA) approval from Walden’s Office of Institutional Research & Analysis (OIRA) is not required for faculty and staff to apply for a RASCG; however, if you plan to collect data from Walden (students, faculty, staff etc.) or use existing Walden operational data you must obtain IA in order for any funds to be disbursed to the grant recipient.

Although IA is not required to apply, faculty and staff must confirm with the institutional approver (institutional.approver@mail.waldenu.edu) that the Walden data proposed for collection and/or existing data to be requested for use in this grant proposal are accessible and/or available. Documentation of the institutional approver’s determination must be submitted as part of this application.

Please save your document as “Walden Data Determination – YOUR LAST NAME,” and the upload the document above.

[Note: If you are not collecting data from Walden or using existing Walden operational data for your proposed research or applied project, then you do not need to complete this item.]
  • Walden faculty, administrators and staff applying for funding to support research are able to include compensation/release time from their regular workload to ensure that they are able to dedicate the time required to conduct research. Before submitting a grant application, researchers must talk with their direct supervisor about their intent to apply for research funding that involves compensation/release time.

Here is the link to the Faculty Research Compensation/Release Time Guidelines Template
hosted on the Center for Research Quality website. These guidelines are designed to help guide grant applicants and their supervisors through the process of determining compensation/workload reduction to conduct research. Questions about the guidelines should be directed to grants@mail.waldenu.edu.

If your budget includes compensation/release time to conduct research for you, or any of your Walden Co-PIs, please complete the Release Time/Compensation for Research Approval Form found in the Faculty Research Compensation/Release Time Guidelines mentioned above. The form must be completed for each individual Co-PI employed by Walden that is requesting release time or compensation to conduct research proposed in this research grant application.

Once you have obtained approval for your release time/compensation for research, please save a copy of the fully executed approval form as “RT-C for Research – YOUR LAST NAME,” and upload the documentation above. Complete this step for each Co-PI that is requesting release time/compensation to conduct research.

[Note: If you, or none of your Co-PIs, are not requesting Release Time/Compensation to conduct research, then you do not need to complete this item.]
  • Please upload a Curriculum Vitae or resume for all of the additional Co-PIs listed in the Principle Investigator Information section at the beginning of this grant application. Provide the C.V.s or resumes for only those Co-PIs listed as #3 and beyond.

Although there are no page limits or formatting requirements for submitting a C.V. or resume, please submit a document of professional quality. Please save your document as “CV – YOUR LAST NAME,” and the upload the document above.

[Note: If you are a single PI, or there are only two Co-PIs for the grant, then you do not need to complete this item.]
