All fields marked with a red star must be filled. Any fields that you answer, "no" to (don't do birth story, don't have references available, etc) will not show on the doula bios that are handed out to clients.
  • Payment

    Payment is made via Paypal. If you don't know how to use Paypal, please contact Aimée at 778-VIP-CARE. Thanks.
  • Prearranged backup doula registration saves your wallet from emptiness and our heads from aching. It has a small fee associated, because we need to create and format their bio, but it saves you from having to pay a larger fee if you find you can't make it last minute, due to a birth or illness.

    To take advantage of the Prearranged Backup feature, give your backup doula the link to this page and have her fill out the form. She will select the "Prearranged Backup Doula" option from the payment options above, and fill out the rest of the form as usual. When she gets to the end of the form, she should select, "Save and Resume Later" Then, if you do need to cancel, she'll come back and make her payment of $40 (no Late Registration Fees apply, of course) and your fee is refunded in full. It's smooth sailing all-round. Thanks!
  • These fees are charged when you are registering the Monday before the event, or later. If you are substituting last-minute for another doula who is unable to make it, the same fees apply.

    To avoid last-minute fees, make sure you have Prearranged Backup (see above for details).

    Late registration fees DO NOT APPLY to a doula who is already pre-registered and is covering for the doula she made arrangements with.
  • Event Selection

  • You will only be paying for one event today. If you select more than one event, please bring the balance of payment ($40 per event) to the first event.
  • Business Information

  • If you want to bring any promo materials along, please limit them so that parents arent' swamped:
    -one business card,
    -your references and a tesimonials (one pager, please!)
    -one pamhlet, flyer or postcard and,
    -one article written by you (300 words max please!)

    Also, please bring paperclips to allow parents to keep your promo materials together with the bio that I prepare for you. This keeps everything neat for them so they're not having to figure out what belongs to whom when they get home. Thanks!
  • What I mean by “Queer Friendly”

    For some people, the term, “queer friendly” just means, “comfortable with two moms”. However, this event is open to the queer community as a whole, not just monogamous couples. Please take a moment to read the following excerpt from an ad I’m posting with x-tra west:

    "Your doula will be accompanying you in one of the most meaningful and intimate moments of your life, so it is import to find one who is Queer Friendly and a good fit. Browsing through websites can be confusing and interviewing multiple doulas can be very time-consuming. The Doulas at this event have all been hand-selected for their dedication to birthing families and their LGBTQ-friendliness. Whether you are a queer single-mom, transgendered, intersex, an adoptive couple and birth mother, newlywed dykes, unconventional queer extended family, or a BDSM couple, you can feel confident coming to Doula Speed Dating."

    Please let me know if you feel comfortable with that description. I really want to be sure that people from all parts of the LGBTQ spectrum feel welcome and not just “tolerated”.

    If you have any questions, aren’t sure, etc, please let me know. I promise full confidentiality, so if you decide that you are not comfortable with it, you can say so without risking embarrassment or judgment.

    This is where you get to give parents a glimpse of what makes you unique! Take some time to give all the information and files you can.
  • Black and white or greyscale, close-up face.
    High-contrast looks best.
    Min 400x400 pixels, max 2MB.
  • Please avoid repeating details that are already requested in this form such as training and certification.
  • If there are some areas that you cover only partially, please be specific about this; for example, Vancouver and North Burnaby.
  • All doulas must have completed training with a recognized doula training facility (i.e. DONA, CAPPA,
    Childbirth International, Hypnobirthing, Birthing From Within, Wise Woman Way of Birth)

  • Parents are advised that all doulas who attend Doula Speed Dating offer the following services as part of their package:

    ~On-call for your birth 24-7
    ~Unlimited availability via text, email, or phone from the time you hire your doula until several weeks after the birth of your baby.
    ~Continous support during labour and the immediate postpartum period.

    If you do not offer one or more of these services, please let Aimée know.
  • These are goods and services which are available for an extra fee.
  • You can bring a copy of your references along with your other promo materials (due 3 days after your registration) to have them included in the parents' package.
  • (Some doulas will provide parents with a copy of the birth story as they saw it unfold.)
  • What are your backup arrangements? Do you work as a team with another doula or doulas? Do you rely on the wider doula community for backup? Do parents have the opportunity to meet your backup?
  • Certification

    If you want to advertise your certification at Doula Speed Dating you must provide proof of certification. There are two ways to do this:

    1/ You may choose to upload files of any images of certificates issued by a recognized certifying body.

    2/ If you are listed as Certified on the website of such a body, you can add the link in the next section.

  • Important Information for Pre-registrering Back-up Doulas

    If you are Pre-registering today, please be sure to select, "Save and Resume Later", and NOT "Complete Registration".

    If the doula you are providing backup for is unable to make it, and you are returning to pay your fee, please finish by selecting "Complete Registration".
