For Industry Comments on Proposed BIM Requirements for New Developments

1. The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) are seeking comments on proposed BIM requirements for new developments.

2. The proposed BIM requirements are part of efforts to build up a systematic digitised record of underground structures to facilitate better planning and space optimisation of our underground.

3. We welcome the views and inputs from your organisation before finalising the requirements. BCA and URA have earlier consulted ACES/IES and they have no objections to implementing the proposed requirements.

4. This applies to projects with first application for Provisional Permission (PP) and/or Written Permission (whichever is earlier) under the Planning Act made on or after 1st April 2021.

We would appreciate if you could provide your comments by 15 Aug 2020.

Proposed BIM requirement for New Developments

To build up better records of underground structures, we are proposing that new developments with GFA more than 5,000m2 and with underground components, will need to meet the requirements set out in Table 1 below. Refer to Annex A for examples of the as-built substructure BIM.
