  • The Call for Abstracts in now OPEN

    Abstracts are invited from those working across Western Alliance member health services, primary care and universities, from all disciplines and sectors with a focus on rural and regional health research and translation.
  • Presentation formats

    The Symposium on 21 November 2023, being held in Warrnambool, will include:
    - 10 minute oral presentations*
    - 5 slides in 5 minutes oral presentations
    - Poster presentations (display only)
    - STaRR Emerging Researcher showcase – for participants of the Western Alliance STaRR program only (note that STaRR participants will be invited to present their work through a separate process and do not need to complete this form)

    *Please note that the 10 minute oral presentations will be allocated to research projects that have demonstrated a research translation outcome (i.e. an impact on policy and practice)
  • PRESENTATIONS

    * At least one author must register and attend on the day to present the work submitted.

    * Abstracts with no presenting author will not be accepted.

    * All presenters must register at the time of confirming their acceptance of the offer to present.

  • ABSTRACT

    The abstract should be a maximum of 350 words (not including the title, co-authors and contributing authors), following these subheadings:

    • Title
    • Background and aim
    • Population/setting
    • Methods
    • Results/findings
    • Conclusion
    • Translational Impact/implications for future practice

    Where applicable, please indicate how consumers or community members have been involved in your research or research translation project.

    Please note that abstracts exceeding the word limit will not be accepted.
  • Add Title, First name, Surname in author order
    (2, 3, 4 etc. for second, third, fourth etc.)
  • Add the primary/main affiliation of each co-author in the same order as above
    (2, 3 etc. for second, third etc.)
  • Due to an IT issue with a recent issue of Talking Points, abstract submissions will remain open until 12pm Monday 9 October 2023.

    Invitations for oral and poster presentations will be forwarded by email to the presenting author by Thursday 19th October 2023.
