COACHING POLICY & CONTRACT
The Shepherds require all coaches to demonstrate full commitment to the mission of the organization throughout the season. While we recognize that each coach is at a different stage in his faith and comes from a variety of backgrounds, the following expectations are required as a condition of employment:
1. Commitment to continued learning about Christ and to walking in faith alongside players.
2. Commitment to coaching from a Christian worldview, with consideration for the heart, identity, and long term development of players as men of God in all decisions and communication.
3. Commitment to uphold all expectations and responsibilities outlined in the official job description.
4. Commitment to represent Christ on the field through words, attitude, and conduct.
5. Agreement to participate in all team functions, including daily Bible studies, team meals, camps, trips, and community service opportunities, unless prior approval for absence is granted by the General Manager at the beginning of the season.
6. Commitment to abstain from sexual sin, illegal drugs, the use of alcohol and tobacco in any form.
7. Commitment to demonstrate humility through confession and repentance in the event of a breach of contract.
The Shepherds staff does not expect perfection in these areas. Coaches are expected to grow in faith and leadership throughout the season. The Shepherds staff is committed to supporting the spiritual health and development of each coach and will serve as a resource during employment and beyond.
