No
If it is a goal, why is owning your own home important to you?
*
If home ownership is not a goal, note below where you plan to live. Then, complete the rest of this form and make sure your CWC counselor knows your plans when you talk to them.
What homeownership programs have you participated in (e.g. Habitat for Humanity, NACA or Dream Key Partners). How far along are you in their program?
You will need to be prepared to meet some criteria to be able to buy a home. Requirements change for each program but here are some guides. Check those items you can meet.
*
Stable employment
Credit score of 620 or higher
Keep the same bank accounts - don't change
No recent credit inquiries for new credit
Drive your old car for a while if you have to borrow for a new car to pay for it
Be honest on your applications
These items normally show someone who can be relied upon to be a "credible borrower".
How will you intend to pay for a home - downpayment and monthly payments? You can do it but you have to take some firm steps. Check the ones that you've started so far.
*
Read up on every downpayment assistance plan you can
Ask Common Wealth Charlotte for financing referrals
Check into housing assistance nonprofits for grants
Compare different financing options; for example FHA or VA programs have $0 downpayment programs
Prepare a budget to show a lender how much you can afford and why you can afford it
A lot of good options are available in different places so it takes some effort to compare them. Keep good notes!
