During the 2021 Orange Central Homecoming and Reunion weekend, Laura Marsolek '13, G'15 and 2018-19 Luce Scholar will present a Master Class, "Delving into the Jewelry Box: Fine Jewels from Around the World". Laura is a metalsmith, gemologist, and art historian who currently works in the fine jewelry department of a Southern auction house, Heritage Auctions. Laura was a Fulbright Scholar in Kosovo, an MA student in Italy, and a curatorial research assistant at Mehrangarh Museum Trust in India. For the master class, she will speak about her experiences studying adornment in Europe and Asia and collaborating with local artisans to learn the techniques of the trade. Class participants and observers will learn from Laura as she shares her rich expertise in metals techniques and global jewelry histories.
