Work Experience - Learning Agreement Spring 2023
The WE Learning Agreement is completed at the 1st site by the student, Site Supervisor, & faculty with agreed upon learning objectives or projects for the student to complete throughout the term.

COVID-19 ADJUSTMENTS: Both in-person or remote work will be accepted for Work Experience. In addition, the WE faculty orientation and site visits, which typically occur in-person, may take place virtually, most likely via Zoom. For more detailed information, please visit the SDCCD Work Experience website. Students completing in-person placements are highly encouraged to follow all health and safety protocols outlined by the CDC, Public Health Officials, and employment site.

    For the satisfactory completion of all types of Work Experience Education, students may earn up to a total of 16 semester credit hours. Title 5, Section 55253.
  • Credit is awarded based on 75 hours of paid work/internship or 60 hours of unpaid internship per unit the student is enrolled. View the Work Experience Student Handbook (Page 13) for minimum hours required per semester by unit.

  • WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS

    LEARNING AGREEMENT: The student will comply with the Work Experience guidelines and regulations. The instructor will visit the student's place of employment/internship, consult with the employer/mentor regarding the student's job performance, and grant academic credit for successful completion of the program. The employer/mentor and the college agree to provide the necessary supervision and guidance to ensure maximum educational benefit from this work experience. The employer/mentor will verify the hours completed by the student during the course term.

    JOB-ORIENTED LEARNING OBJECTIVES: For each semester that a student is enrolled in Work Experience, it is necessary to identify new or expanded job-oriented learning objectives. These objectives are formulated by the student, reviewed and approved by both the supervisor/mentor and the college instructor. Should an objective require revision anytime during the semester, the instructor must be notified.
