Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from Walden is not required for faculty and staff to apply for ana FRIG; however, for any funds to be disbursed to the grant recipient, proof of compliance with Walden University regulations regarding the protection of human subjects in research (IRB approval) is required.
For all research involving human subjects, a part of the grant proposal review process will include careful consideration of protections from research risks. The review committee’s evaluation of the protections for research participants will be factored into the overall score for the scientific and technical merit of the application.
Although IRB approval is not required to apply, faculty and staff must confirm with the Walden IRB Office (
irb@mail.waldenu.edu) whether it is anticipated that ethics approval will be needed for their proposed research. Documentation of the institutional determination as to whether research ethics approval will be needed must be submitted as part of this application.
*If research ethics approval will be needed, please attach a copy of the correspondence with Walden’s IRB Office indicating their determination that research ethics approval will be required if the proposed research is funded.
*If research ethics approval will NOT be needed, please attach a copy of the correspondence with Walden’s IRB Office indicating their determination that research ethics approval will not be required if the proposed research is funded.
Please save your document as “IRB Documentation – YOUR LAST NAME,” and the upload the research ethics documentation above.
