  • About Girl Scouts and Faith

Everything in Girl Scouting is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, which includes many values common across religions. So while Girl Scouts is a secular organization, all Girl Scouts in grades K-12 are encouraged to earn the My Promise, My Faith awards to explore the Girl Scout Promise and Law and take spiritual journeys by learning about and earning the religious recognitions for their faith community.
  • GSOC encourages all Girl Scouts to earn the MPMF Awards! OC Faith Award certificates are presented to Girl Scouts who have earned multiple awards.

The OC Faith Mentor certificate is presented to Girl Scouts who have earned 7 or more MPMF Awards and helped younger Girl Scouts to earn the MPMF Awards.

The OC Faith Explorer certificate is presented to Girl Scouts who have earned ALL 13 MPMF Awards.
  • Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (P.R.A.Y.) is a not-for-profit organization whose national board of directors includes representatives from Protestant and Independent Christian Churches and national youth agencies.

P.R.A.Y. encourages collaborations between churches and youth agencies for the benefit of youth and publishes "To Serve God," a brochure explaining Religious Recognitions from various denominations/faiths created by faith communities for members who are Girl Scouts.
  • Girl Scout Week is celebrated annually in March, during the week of Girl Scout Birthday on March 12th. This is a great time for girls to wear their Girl Scout uniform to their place of worship, help with the service, share their Girl Scout experience with their faith community, and even be recognized by faith leaders for earning religious awards and recognitions!

  • Please upload one or more pictures of the Girl Scout in uniform, earning her My Promise, My Faith Award or religious recognition, exploring the Girl Scout Law, with her award, or wearing her Girl Scout uniform at her place of worship or with her faith leader! (High resolution .jpg or .png file is preferred.)

  • Thank you!
